Section 1: IntroductionWhat is Community Night? The AGN community night is the chance for members of the Planetside community to join Planetside Universe's Marsman and Hamma in a live chat discussing everything from bugs to patch notes, new ideas to past experiences.
When is it held? Community night is always held the Friday before AGN's Ask the Devs chat.
What time does Community Night start? The usual starting time is 8pm EST (5pm PST, 1am GMT/BST, 2am CET) with music leading up to the start.
Do the Devs listen in? Planetside Community Manager Victor "Sporkfire" Wachter is a regular guest of the show if he isn't too busy working on Planetside.
Section 2: ParticipationWhat is the panel? The panel are the participating members in the live Community night discussion. The panel is limited to around 8-10 members.
Can anyone apply to join the panel? As long as you play Planetside and can use Teamspeak 2 yes.
I think I'd be too nervous to participate a live chat show You can always join in with the discussion in the #agn IRC channel. But keep in mind that everyone is nervous when they first start, and even some of the regulars get nervous before the beginning of the chat so don't let that put you off applying.
Ok, so how do I apply? Community night is officially announced on the AGN forums here. You can either reply to the thread expressing your interest or send a private message to Marsman.
What are the details for Teamspeak? These will be sent to you prior to the Community Night via a forum private message.
I forgot to apply and the Community Night is tonight! There may still be a space on the panel for you to join. Try sending a private forum message to Marsman to see if you can still fit onto the panel.
I forgot to apply and the Community Night is starting/has started! If there are still spaces on the panel, this will most likely be pointed out at the start of the show. Should there be any room, then instructions will be given in the shoutcast. This normally involves sending an IRC private message to a PSU staff member.
Section 3: Listening inHow do I listen to Community night? Community night is streamed using Shoutcast. To listen in, follow the steps provided by the Shoutcast FAQ
What is IRC and how do I connect to it? All you need to know about IRC and setting up the mIRC client can be found in the IRC FAQ. You can join in with Community night even if you're not on the panel by connecting to irc.planetside-universe.com and joining the #agn channel. Alternatively you can just use the Java web IRC client to avoid having to set anything up. A link to this can be found at the bottom of the IRC FAQ page.
