Been a while since I've done a music hour, so I'll be on the mic tomorrow night for a "Music from Mars" show. Will probably kick things off around 8:30 pm EST. See ya all then! :D

Ok that's why. Hamma has been doing broadcasts at 48kbps which is more than you can keep up with on modem. This week, we'll either be broadcasting at 32kbps or will run dual streams with one server at full rate and one server at 32 or 24 for modem users. Under those conditions, you should be able to keep up at 56k with much less, if any skipping. :)

That's pretty rough on the casters connection - not to mention it impacts the number of listeners due to the bandwidth is consumes. Personally, that would consume my entire bandwidth at 128 - I would not be able to maintain a consistant stream, let alone do anything else. No DCC, no IRC, etc... I think the best I could do is 96, but I wouldn't be able to deal with DCC's at all. Therefore if we split the relays and do dual rate links, the larger rate would probably 64k or less. Sorry :(

I agree with Gohan, that was awful. In the Music Hour, can you play Baby got back back by Sir Mix-a-lot? You know, the "I like big buts" song?

Heh i personally think it's fine the way it is now. I much prefer to listen to a decent shoutcast once a week or so with the occosional fund raising than hear a high quality one than raise 1000$ to pay for the server bandwidth for the next 3 weeks. :)
