Lots of Interest....
During the war to regain control of the New Conglomerate sanctuary, our main character, Major Searo was taken hostage by the Vanu/Terran Coalition. Starrider, the ace Vanu pilot in the revolutionary Phantom Vanu Mosquito, held him captive until
Searo managed to escape in an AMS.
While evading the laser and missile barrage, the AMS swerved into a tree under Searo's inept handling.
MrVulcan, the former Commander of the Freedom Corp is missing.
It's up to VashtheStamped to rebuild the Corp and attempt to find the missing soldiers before another large offensive.
Chapter 1: Reconstruction
Freedom Corp Base (Ruins)
Vash surveyed the wreckage of the formerly proud blue and yellow base. Twisted metal beams poked from under the concrete slabs. Gunshot marks covered most surfaces, several terminals flickered and sparked, and the wooden meeting table was now a charred husk.
Sprak and Connors were shifting rubble, loading it into a hollowed Sunderer and carting it away. Flourpower and Scotty were absent, searching for any lost Freedom Corp soldiers. After MrVulcan had disappeared, Vash had been unanimously elected Commander General.
Still, many Corp members were gone, and more reports of dead or missing troops poured in every day.
Sprak approached him and spoke, "Sir, at this rate it'll take twenty years to shift the rubble."
Vash was silent for a while, and finally replied slowly, "High Command is sending a team tomorrow to help. They've got those new nanite constructors, converted ANTs that fabricate buildings."
A dust cloud appeared in the distance, but the men paid it no heed. Travel along roads in the Sanctuary was common, with no ambushes in the trees waiting to blow you to bits.
It was closing.
"Connors, range mag that vehicle," drawled Vash.
"Yessir," was the swift reply.
"It's a Basi, Vash, female occupant, stealther."
Vash thought of all the Corp members he knew that fitted those specs, but they were all busy looking for survivors.
"Corp Logo?" he asked.
"No sir," came after another second of scanning.
By now the Basilisk was close enough for him to see clearly.
"Ahh, it's Shimmer," said Vash.
Connor was confused, "Who?"
Sprak spoke up, "Agent, she knew Searo."
Vash was silent, he remembered that Searo was a MIA as well.
Shimmer skidded to a stop in front of the three troopers. She pulled back her cloaking mask, letting her long brown hair wave in the wind.
Shimmer looked hopeful, "Any word?"
Vash noted the painful look in her eyes, and shook his head.
Scotty sat in the "shortbus" parked out in the Sanct wilderness. He glanced at the radar screen.
"Flour, sweep those trees out there."
Flourpower, like many soldiers searching for lost comrades, had picked up the Mossie for some aerial recon.
Scotty took a sip of coffee, and scanned the screen again.
"Flour, ya got some wreckage on your nine."
"Goin' down to check it out."
Scotty notified the driver to start towards Flourpower's position. Blacksmith mashed the pedal and shot in Flour's direction.
"Wonder what it is, eh Scott?"
"Yeah, probably just some blown up Magmower."
Flourpower's voice crackled over the comm.
"Enemy AMS, front smashed like a fat guy that sat on an accordion."
"Yowch, well, check it out anyway."
Flour set his Skeeter down and jumped out. He didn't bother pulling a gun, any enemy would be dead or gone by now. He reached the front door, and pulled it open with great difficulty.
There, encased in a metal coccoon and covered in blood lay the crumpled form of Searo.

Two Weeks Later
The sniper rammed the bolt into his long rifle. From his perch on a mountain peak, he could see several Vanu soldiers patrolling the base walls.
The scope made a barely audible whirr as he zoomed in on one idle soldier.
The tiny 4x in the corner blinked, and the crosshairs centered on the bright purple helmet of the man's head.
The sniper sucked in his breath, and steadied his aim. His prey, the clueless soldier yawned carelessly, unaware of the giant rifle barrel leveled at his head.
A red mist floated in the air, and the corpse of the Vanu soldier slumped over the wall, a hole drilled in his head.
The sniper immediately pulled another shot out and loaded it into the rifle.
No one had noticed the shot, most were half asleep. Another purple trooper passed by the Phalanx Wall Turret system, and noticed the splatter.
The impact from the bolt shot him over the wall, and a cloud of dust rose from his crumpled body. A stain spread out from under him and through the hole in his chest.
By now, the garrison had been alerted. Counter snipers scurried to the walls and pilots dashed for their aircraft. The pesky sniper would be dealt with quickly.
Searo strapped his rifle to his back, and ran down the hill to his Lightning tank. He hopped in the hatch and quickly blasted to full throttle. Shields were full, and his weapons were loaded with ammo. Searo swiveled in his seat, keeping the front viewscreen in his peripheral vision as he rotated the cannon around to deal with aerial threats from the rear.
A few aircraft buzzed around his former perch like angry flies, but they took no heed of the tiny blue tank whizzing away through the undergrowth.
Searo smiled, another mission well done. He would report back to the main FC assault force and then assist the attack.
"Hossin's tighter than a fat man in a small car."
"Flour, cut with the fat people analogies."
The Conglomerate forces had pushed the Vanu straight off the continent, and had locked down all of the warpgates. Searo glanced around the room, noticing that MrVulcan had returned.
"MrV! You're back!" he said, smiling.
The calm General smiled slightly, and replied, "I was found in the wreckage of my Mosquito a kilo out from Hossin Villa at the sanct."
"So, are you retaking command?" Searo asked.
"No, I think I'm ready to take a less active role in the Corp, a young Commander will be better." Vulcan replied.
Sadly, Masurao had not been found. Several other MIAs had been reported by Searo to be in the Fox Hounds. A new outfit formed when several soldiers had been unable to regroup with the main body. LiquidSnake, Hawkeye, and Glaynor were all fine.
Shimmer was going on fewer and fewer missions as the TR and VS espionage activity slowed. Soon, spies could become obsolete as grunt warfare made up the bulk of fighting.
The Corp continued, flourishing under Vash's command and continuing many successful campaigns.

I haven't seen HawkEye around the sanct lately, that explains it...

FC Base (Rebuilt)
"We got those creepy soldier dudes pouring out of caverns in all continents," Vash said, vigorously jabbing his finger at a map on the command table.
"Whaddawe gonna do, Vash?" asked Flour.
Vash thought for a moment, and then replied, "We gotta get some of those guns, that's what. Those things are powerful."
The other FC commanders around the room nodded. Scotty, a General, spoke up, "How do we get these weapons? Whenever we kill one of those buggers his guns just disappear."
The other high ranking officers murmured in agreement. Once again, Vash thought for a moment. MrVulcan spoke up softly, "If killing is not the answer, why do we not capture one?"
Flourpower replied, "How we gonna capture one? They're tough as tanks and I'm sure they got a suicide button or somethin'."
"I don't care what you do, what you try, and how you do it, just bring one back," Vash commanded, waiting for that to sink in, "and the first one to do it gets a promotion."
The officers scrambled for the door, and started putting teams together. Only MrVulcan remained. "Not going for it, MrV?" asked Vash.
"I am, but patience is always more efficient," he calmly replied.
"Searo, Connors, Blacksmith, CubaPete, Elfette, and uhhhh....Biglammo, come with me," barked Scotty in his thick accent.
"On my way."
"Take the HART, waypoint 1, go."
Searo yanked on his reinforced armor. It felt clunky after fighting for so long in the quick fluid Agile armor. It did let him carry his Sweeper and his Bolt Driver, however.
He jogged over to the HART building and entered right as the countdown completed. His radar showed Cuba and Elf already in, and the rest coming. Everyone got on, and the lumbering craft blasted into space. Searo designated Waypoint 1 as his drop point, the Cavern that FC had found earlier. His pod disengaged and he plummeted to the earth below.
The pod landed safely and then deconstructed itself around him, and he looked around for the squad. The seven troopers had landed closely together, and Scotty took point as they entered the cavern.
"Keep your eyes peeled."
Searo whipped out his Sweeper, when they reached a suitable snipe point he would use his Bolt Driver, but for now the Sweeper would deal with surprises. They descended down into the giant cave, and Searo gasped at the huge crystal formations from which buildings were carved. He noticed a particularly high building, a good place to snipe from.
"This place looks deserted, but stay frosty."
The team cautiously made their way through the labrynth, jumpy and ready to splatter someone across the wall.
