The Terran Global Fighters (TGF) are currently suspending all our recruiting for two weeks. We have set up our site in the rememberance of the Crew of the Columbia and would like to invite everyone to check out our site and intro. If you go to our site, please be patiant for the intro to load, it is slightly large and takes a few to fully load up, but we are sure you will enjoy it. After you see our intro please check out our site that follows. If you are still interested in joining the TGF you can go to our contacts section which is the only link uploaded at this time and drop us an email. We will contact all applicants after the two weeks are up. If you have any input on our dedication please contact us through our contacts section or just post it here. Please check out our site at http://www.planetside-tgf.com Once again we ask that you patiantly wait for the intro to load. Thanks

what I'm not being sarcastic I'm pointing out that everyone makes a huge deal about these 7 people when 100 die in a plane crash and don't get nearly as much attention !

Im pointing out that you are trolling, and it wont be tolerated.

wait I'm sorry I don't know what trolling is. Can u explain it to me so I can stop doing it:confused:

On the Internet, a troll is a person who posts messages that create controversy or an angry response without adding content to the discussion, often intentionally. Though technically different from flaming which is an unmistakable direct personal attack, trolls often resort to innuendo or misdirection in the pursuit of their objective, which is to create controversy for its own sake, discredit those with whom they disagree, or sabotage discussion by creating an intimidating atmosphere.

oh sorry then I thought trolls were just stupid random attacks on everyone.

I'll stop being a "trolly man":D

Don't waste your time trying to explain anything to them Hamma! Obviously blind as a bat, these people, along with many others knew the risks and they we're willing to take the chance to actually make a diff. in this f*#@ed up world we live in! It's what seperates the human beings from the cold, heartless freaks that take up space!! With that being said...you keep your idiotic comments to yourself and let us run our site as we choose. You want to honor others, that is your choice! I have yet to see any positive opinions or statements from you, so all I ask is you refrain your negativity towards our comments!!:nono:
Thank You!

The reason why these people are so noticed is because plane crashes are common (about 1 every half yr or so) while space ship crashes aren't.

Also, these people (Columbia crew) were making a successful trip home when I think the left thing in the other thing (whatever) heated up and blew the ship up. Why's that so important? Because people were watching it come home. People were waiting at the landing place to congratulate them. I believe their family/ies were there too and they watched them blow up. Not too mention later body parts were being found in New Mexico I think... Same thing with Challenger.

And Columbia was the oldest ship NASA had (I think), they had used it 28 times successfully.

Although I must admit, when its not a big massacre or you don't know the people it's not important to you, or isn't as important, but Bighoss, it doesn't mean you outta say that anyways. (I do agree with you though)

i thought the same thing as bighoss said when i first saw this thread. i just didn't say anything.

shutting down "recruiting" for a team that plays a video game really seems like a forced, meaningless gesture to get attention.

He doesn't need to berate those who are trying to do something in memory of Columbia.

It is not like the post was asking Hoss to do anything.

If you don't care about Columbia that is just fine, but that doesn't justify attacking the people who do.

He saw the title of the thread he could have easily avoided it.

Anyways, Nighthawk is obviously using the Columbia subject to call attention, i agree with afex.

You know, why don't you go look at the site and read what I put on the main page. No attention was wanted other then to have people check out the site that is being dedicated to those lost members of nasa. If you can't handle someone doing something good or doing something to recognize those who they feel should be given attention then that is your choice. I am not asking for your approval for what I have done, and yes I am the one that created the page and the intro and second off I live in Texas less then 15 minutes from where they are finding most of the pieces and the body parts. If you don't want to check out the site then don't, I don't care either way. I am not tring to get new members by doing this, that is why I have the new members recruiting section of the site shut down. If you think everyone thinks like that then you need to get a grip. It will stay like it is for two weeks in memory of those crew members of the Columbia like I said before.

If I didn't make it clear since I was slitely pissed on my last post. I am the one that created the pages not NightHawk and I am the one that started this thread. I don't want nor need anyones attention and if you think that is all people are after, then you are the one that is shallow and heartless. Anyone that would use something this tragic for self attention or even thinks that way is shallow. If you don't want to check out the page then please don't, but if you aren't shallow minded like some of the others that have posted in here then please check out the site and I hope you enjoy it just as much as I did once I finally finished it and got it up and running.

That's.Not.Why.I'm.Doing.This- those six words took you a whole paragraph to type.

It seems really suspicious that about 1-2 of the sentences NightHawk wrote was about Columbia, and the rest was about how and where to get recruited... hmm

I never said I thought everyone thinks like that either. I do think that you think like that though.

... Do you want me to feel bad for you? How's that supposed to affect your recruiting page?

Bighoss
2003-02-04, 07:55 PM
as I've said before when people die it is tragedy (unless its darwin award matierl) I just like to point out that I find it strange that people hear "A plane crashed today about 165 people dead" you shrug and say hhhmmm thats to bad and then u go off and forget about it. When this shuttle goes down everyone freaks out like this is something that would never happen. With all the mechanics we screw around with these days stuff like this is bound to happen. To say this is a minor tragedy compared to a plane crash. I will remeber it well because it is a blow to the pride of the American Space Program NASA. I just don't think this tragedy should just be viewed as sympathy to the ones that died. I think they would have rather had people learn from what happened to prevent it happening again.

I liked your slide show by the way. Its painful to see anyone so happy and know that they died as they were returning from the time of their life.:(

I don't see how this thread turned into something so controversial. It seems like a nice thing to do, considering the events of this weekend. It's not something I would have done, but maybe NASA and the space program is more important to Dead-Eye than everyone else. If you feel it's a ploy to attract recruits, don't click the link. I hardly think this is something they are using to get attention for their webpage. Although this does not belong in the recruiting section.

I do ask though, that you change the spelling of there in "They had finished there mission" to their. ;) Other than that, nice slideshow.

You know, I had to admit, that at first I felt bad for thinking, hey this is a shameless recruiting scandal. I wasn't going to say anything and let it go in case I was wrong. Then I remembered, what is the average attention span of the forum goer? About 4 days, so two weeks from now, no one will remember this. Simple. If it was a 3 day halt on recruitment I'd be peterbed. However, lets play devil's advocate and say it is a shameless recruiting scheme, it won't work anyway. There's my 2 cent.

Obviously you have no idea what in the hell you are talking about, TGF_Dead_-_Eye made the decision and we as a clan agree! You guys can run your shit the way you want to, no one is forcing you to halt your recruiting on a game that won't be out til prob April anyway....not like there is a rush!
You actually think we decided to do this to get attention...yeah ok:rolleyes: We(TGF) feel it is OUR way of showing gratitude & respect....what it means to be American! Bunch of heartless worms we see surfacing!!

Ok, you guys believe what you want, but if you have ever looked at our web site before, you would know that I have shut down the hole site and dedicated it to the Columbia and her crew, not just the recruiting section. The reason for two weeks is do to the fact that you guys aren't the only ones that will be seeing it. Half the class that my fiance goes to for college has looked at it as well and they don't give a rats a#$ about planetside. They have been sending the link to there friends and family members and I feel that two weeks should give plenty of time for everyone who may want to see it to be able to. You who think otherwise are just shallow plane and simple. I feel for you, and I hope the day that you die people care about you more then you care about others. Like I said, don't go look at it. Those that aren't shallow will know that the site is about those that were lost and not about anything else. Oh ya, if I knew how to create a website when 9/11 happened I would have done the same thing and same for the Challenger crew, but I didn't know how back then, but I know you don't have to say it, it is just a ploy. You can believe what you want and that is fine, but no one is being recruited nor will they be untill the two weeks are up and if they are wanting to join because they liked how nice the site was well that isn't good enough reason to join so they wouldn't be accepted anyways. There is more to being a clan member then liking someones website you idiots. Now if you don't want to look at it then don't and shut up, otherwise go look at it and I hope you like it. Yes I know there are some misspelled words not just one but two that I know of and I am fixing them tonight. Thanks for the input on that, I didn't know about that one being wrong.

I can tell you exactly how it started....Bighoss! That's all people do is try & find the the stupidist shit and make a big deal out of something that was meant to be "a tribute".
Afex, kind of shocked me to hear it come from you as well, I thought better of you than that, guess I was wrong again! It's pretty simple, look at it if u like....or don't! Nobody's arm was being twisted or was threatened! Damn idiots, get a life!!
By the way...we are not some group of kids looking for attention or a "pat on the back". We are all 25 or older with the exception of one of our members, which he shows a hell of alot more maturity than most here!!

I think that you guys are missing my point.

For starters nighthawk, when i said your name i meant dead eye.

Anyways, go back and read your first post (Dead Eye)
Didn't you notice that there is one-two sentences about Columbia, and the rest is about how to get recruited. Now tell me if that doesn't sound like a cheap ploy to get attention and fresh recruits. I'm not flaming you, but apparently you think that I am, especially nighthawk. NH, you need to calm down.

It was a nice video btw.

Weird thing bout columbia none of ya might know: A bunch of high schoolers had 15 ants on board it doing an experiment about how they'd react in space. fyi.

Ok, I am sorry if that is how it came off to you, I was just tring to put out there how long and why our recruiting section was down considering we do have a post on here for recruiting, on here meaning on this recruiting part of PSU. Otherwise I was just hoping that people would go check it out. I took most of 4 hours last night putting it together, and about two hours the day before finding the right song to go on the intro. I just thought people would really like it as much as I did. No I didn't know about the aunts, I hope they got there intell on how they did before this all happened, I know that would probley mean alot to them considering what happened at the end of it all. Something to tell there children when they get older.

OK...well, it's not a ploy, nothing of that nature, just to clear up this nonsense for anyone just tuning in! I'm really a pretty easy goin' person, admit I get a little touchy when it comes to supporting America and standing up for my country...especially when it is questioned!
Anyway with that being said,I would rather talk civil to one another & not try having a flame war for weeks and weeks...so if anyone was offended by ANY of my remarks, don't take them to heart.....chill pill taken!!

The reason why these people are so noticed is because plane crashes are common (about 1 every half yr or so) while space ship crashes aren't.

Does this make the people who died in the plane crashes less important?

I totally agree also. I don't see news every day for the Thousands of people who died yesterday from heart disease. I can see it being news for one day, but this is extremely out of the ordinary. This won't affect 99.99 percent of humans that will never go into space.

I think the point he is trying to make is that there are much better things to put effort towards than to 7 people that are already getting to much attention...
