EVE Online or City of Heros?

Well, I'm prettymuch done with Planetside for reasons I posted in the CDL forums, and will repost or explain if anybody's interested. That said, I need an MMO or else I'm gonna go nuts. Granted, Doom 3 is comming out soon, but that's only gonna last me for so long. I've basically narrowed it down to EVE Online or City of Heros.

I was in City of Heros' beta and absolutely loved it. Great pickup and play aspects, particularly the sidekick system. However, it seemed to lack depth in the long run, and that's the main complaint I've been hearing. On the positive side, I think I saw gametime cards in stock. CDL has a presense there, too. City of Villians looks really cool. Again, the pitfall would seem to be a lack of content later on, but how much less content then PS can you really have? :lol: :doh:

Then there's EVE Online. Lacks the pickup and play qualities of CoH, but looks to be really good once you get into it. I don't want to call it a learning curve, but it seems to have a rather uphill climb to meet the financial and equipment level that any prospective other players have. However, Shiva looks like a badass content/refinment release, which appeals. Plus, there's nice PSU guys in there like Infernus, and Electrofreak. I don't know how many of the trialers decided to stick around. I haven't seen any gametime cards around, if there even are any.

Well imo eve has a severe lack of content. It took me less then a month to get bored with it. It was a great month ill give it that. I just ran out of exciting things to do...

I have only played CoH for a few hours and I have to say it was fun. But beyond that I have no idea what kind of content the game has. I have to agree that it looks bad though at higher lvls.

Early, I play Eve and I love it. It took me 3 days to get used to the systems the game had set up. It should be the same for you. So many diffrent roles you can choose too.

I don't really mean acclimation period, I mean the power curve. It seems like it takes some really serious energy to get any measurable power.

Lemme put it this way. We have a channel and everything set up in EVE. Also, im more than willing to give you any ship or gear you need to get ass-kicking ASAP. Play EVE it ownz (and has a free 14-day trial going currently :D )

edit- if you know how, its not difficult at ALL to get a cruiser and a fair amount of cash in EVE. Also, even in a frigate you can kick some ass if you have the skills and the knowledge (which we will happily provide). Peacemaker was in a Kestrel up to today (a frigate) and he was soloing a cruiser spawn no problem.

edit- current list of subscribed EVE players last i checked is myself, Eine, Infernus, Corrosion, Peacemaker, 1024, 2 of Eine's friends (ShootX and MooMooMan), and Cold Fusion from BOHICA. Sobekus is running the corp the majority of us are in, but his account ran out and I think hes tryin to get it reactivated.

CoH is doing a lot of free rollouts that seem to be deepening the game with no crappy CC style expansions to get and i'm all about that.

Anyway, I'd wait until WoW if I were you. Or Everquest II, both seem better than EVE or CoH. Well, CoH will be good once City of Villains comes out, but I'm not sure if you want to wait till then.

www.eve-online.com do it early try the 14 day trial. Ive been playing for about 3 weeks now and I am in a very good cruiser. My Frigate that Electro speaks of can take on 3 - 4 cruisers at the same time (NPC crusiers of course)

Eh wait till better games come out.COH is cool and all but Id wait for WoW.And Eve is the most boring game ever.You either become a miner which is when you find astreoids,start to mine then wait and watch tv until your done.Wow fun.Or you can go fight which usally lasts like 5 minutes then another 20-30 minutes of travel.Its not worth the time or money imo.Stick with something thats more action paced

I just got the 14 day trial for EVE, and I have this stupid bug where all the text is blurred, Peace and Electrofreak are at work, I think, and they are the ones that got e into it :/ I got it then they left me there hanging...

Try WWIIOL. I played the trial with our portal, and I could not believe the care an infantryman had to take out on the field. The tanks weren't unchallenged masters, aircraft are not easy to fly (though air superiority is a problem). You may actually like it, but I suggest finding a group to fight with.

Otherwise, I say PS. Eve is fun...if you're Alan Greenspan. CoH is fun...if you like dressing Barbies. :P

CoH is good for some ppl (like me) and some that hate it a lot.

I like it because of the storys and all that other crap.
Plus i like playing with CDL in it i would have never had got it if CDL werent in it.

EVE is also good for the brief 7 day trial i did. I applied for some random Corp inside of it and they automatically gave me TONS of cash and a good ship. Although starting out the very first time is quite confusing you get the hang of it within an hour or so.

Either game is a good choice in my opinion.

As I said, I tried the EVE Online Trial, and enjoyed it. I just gotta figure out which would be more approperate for me.

I would only play EVE if you have lots of time to sink into it. It really is a love or hate thing with it though.

Meh, How does creating your own hero (and not one is the same, the character creation system is really in-depth) and picking your own special powers (out of a crap load) and do whatever super heros do sound dumb? and also the new expansion coming out soon, City of Villans, will rock too!

The only turnoff is the lack of an economy.

Yep, there's gonna' be PvP in CoV. It might be a bit hard for villains and heroes to be on friendly terms, thus the fighting.
