We are happy to announce that we will soon be accepting applicants for the World of Warcraft® Open Beta Test for North America. The open phase of beta will give people a chance to enter Azeroth and play World of Warcraft before the game is released. More details will become available over the next few days, so stay tuned.

YAY!

Any info on whether we can carry over our character from open beta to retail?

"Uh guys? I'm as eager as you but if you read the official boards you'll see that:
A) This whole "sign-up" thing basically happened because they foolishly took out an ad in PC Gamer that ran before they had anything set up (the web people are pretty much saying that there are no details known yet).
B) The devs are also confirming that there will be patches (PLURAL) before the open beta, though they won't say how many or what the timeframe is.
C) This makes sense when you remember that 2.33 classes lack talents, numerous zones, quests, and skills are completely unfinished, and the PVP system touted as a big chunk of the endgame content hasn't even been released back into the beta wild yet if you don't count a brief debacle early this patch.
D) Yes, it's a "free" trial of sorts, but your character is going to be reset at the end of it. I'm no more eager to start paying than anyone else but I sincerely hope the open beta doesn't last too long once it gets rolling unless I really manage to pick a character I hate playing.
E) Let me restate, signups don't equal starting the open bet"

SDM, if there's an EQII beta, let me know. I'll do that too to keep you happy.
