As it's been a while since I've made a statement here about the project, this post is intended for everyone who reads these forums, but more importantly for people who don't have a forum-account on the PSIL Forums. This is also a general Press Release for everyone in the PlanetSide community.

This project has now been christened as "Half-Life 2: War on Auraxis" due to its development on the SOURCE Engine, and these will, for now, be feature-length videos rather than a playable modification. Because of the formidable teamwork in the community when it comes to ideas, this project will be led by myself (Hyncharas), and Hayoo and Earlydawn of PSIL. As a result of these plans, all written correspondence for the project will be found here (http://s3.************.com/Planetside_Idealab/index.php?showtopic=276), until a site and a precise forum-section of our own on PSIL's servers are available. Now because each episode is going to take an amount of time to build similar to one of HL2's medium-sized mods, we will be doing work on AGN1: The Day AGN Went Silent (http://www.planetside-universe.com/files/index.php?file=2) and AGN2: Trial and Error (http://www.planetside-universe.com/files/index.php?file=33) first… and after a short review time by you and the people at SOE, we will then consider whether or not we will do a video for AGN3: Reflections (http://www.planetside-universe.com/files/index.php?file=70).

Regardless of this outcome, we will be sticking with the initial idea we had after our first video release to create prototype-simulations done by the modteam, based on ideas suggested by the community, including versions that will be sent to the Devs to play using Half-Life 2. Unless we are given permission from SOE to set up "test servers" for gameplay, however, there will be absolutely NO MULTIPLAYER, as PlanetSide is a pay-to-play online system, and this won't be fair on them when it comes to implementing it into the game's core engine.

Finally, this project is part of a petition for a possible "later development" of PlanetSide 2, made for release on the SOURCE Engine. While this is entirely up to the developers, these videos will be designed to see just how much can be done with it from a mod-side, so that SOE can look at the results and decide for themselves whether its feasible. Unfortunately the actual petition for this side of the project, will be available only when the modsite is up and running, but we estimate it won't be too long before this eventuality…

Why not release it? I mean if your going to model, code, map and package it all together. Its almost too much trouble to even do this project without releasing it. Just my thoughts, ill help in anyway I can though.

SOE might release their lawyers from their boxes.

well, if you are gonna make this movie, you will need to make a gmae owrld about ps in source, so why not make a PS mod for HL2?

SOE might release their lawyers from their boxes.

Indeed, this game is already Pay-2-Play, and that is something the courts tend to frown on when it comes to copyright...

SOE has already sued people for planetside mods for games such as BF:1942 and HL1

If you're still watching for signs of the War on Auraxis website, we graciously thank you for your patience.

At present SOE's Legal Department is going over the details on the project, and until we hear back from them, I'm afraid the project will remain on indefinite hold. Having said that, Martyr and I have been in contact ever since I started talking about the site, and Planetside Syndicate will be our home as soon as we get the go-ahead.
