If you KNOW what the Law of the Seas Treaty is, you might understand my issue with it, and why I would hate Bush for signing it, if you don't go look it up, call it debate homework lol.
I would be out protesting (If I could :P ) Bush over this one in a heart beat.

Between that and the UN looking to take over the internet, I think they're actively striving for a global empire.

Wonder if the admin is considering this one in another attempt to look friendly...they're not going to go anywhere near Kyoto, but it has to look like they care what other countries (or yeah, a sometimes worryingly independant UN) think if they want support for anything else
tit for tat, we'll sign this if you do (or don't do) that kinda thing...this EU arms embargo being a case in point, nobody likes a trade war

I have a PDF copy of the treaty, and have read the parts I found signifigant from the ToC. Send me a PM if you would like me to e-mail it to you.
In short, it gives the UN a cut of anything you mine from the bottom of the sea. This is simply a ludicris step towards making the UN a world government (Power to tax makes it potentialy self-sustaining) with the lion's share of the world's resources. This treaty is insanity.

Yep ST.
And thus, why I hate it.
Well, first of all i'd like to support the essence of the treaty because it has its heart in the right place. However, the UN is somewhat corrupt so the treaty won't really work out.
And Bush signed it? that's suprising.

Heart in the right place? How so? It's just a blatent power-grab by the UN for control of the ocean. How is it's heart in the right place?

The UN's indeals are good (despite the fact that they're mostly corrupted), and they need a way to fund their operations in a manner that does not infringe on Nat. Sov.. If the UN is 'grabbing control of the ocean', then who are they grabbing it from? It makes sense to me that the ocean belongs to nobody, which is what makes it a good idea.

Atog, the UN has been trying for years to become self funded. Guess what happens when you tax a resource? The price to the consumer of the end products goes up.
Do you really think this is just one small thing and it won't lead to more UN control of the world?
Bush can kiss my ass if he actually signs this into law.

Next thing you know the UN will say the US needs permission to undock our Navy.
