WASHINGTON -- Setting the stage for a long-anticipated showdown, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist announced Friday he will seek confirmation next week for two of President Bush's conservative judicial nominees blocked by Democrats.

"It is time for 100 senators to decide the issue of fair up-or-down votes for judicial nominees after over two years of unprecedented obstructionism," Frist's office said in a statement.

Will this mark the launch of the "nuclear option"?

I seriously hope not, but enough is enough, the Dems have had plenty of time to state thier views, now let the senate do it's Duty, not be held at bay by the childish tactics of the Democrats.

I don't like the "Nuclear Option" at all

What I wish, is that the Republicans instead would change the rules back to the old Filibuster rules... ie you wanna filibuster then you must have someone standing there talking.

Only on judicial nominees.

then we wouldn't see stupid 4 year filibusters.

The filibuster is designed to give the Minority an unlimited time to SPEAK their objection about something, for as long as they choose to speak, not an unlimited ability to BLOCK it. There is a big difference between those 2 concepts.

I don't know who, or when the rules were changed but they need to change back. Make people talk!!!!

It's not a filibuster if there is no speaker, simple as that. Call it something else.
