View Full Version : Doom 3 Alpha Build Leaked
2002-11-11, 11:35 AM
Thank you whoever moved this over into the general chat, should have put it here.
Someone (looks like ATI, which has a recent track record of leaking information it shouldn't) has leaked the E3 build of Doom 3.
Here's a slashdot story about it.
The leaking of game programs is really starting to get to me.
Somehow an assie magazine got ahold milestone given to the developer of MOO3, and sent it out on its enclosed CD as a "beta".

I wouldn't suggest getting (the Doom 3 beta), as it only runs at about 10 fps on great systems, contains only 3 levels, is very unstable, does not have fully functional gameplay, and is entirely unoptomized. But it looks really cool. :p

Yeah, it still needs some work, but what's there is very promising.

If you want download it (which you should!) be sure to check out this site (http://www.planetside-universe.com).
There's a little link on the left side bar saying "i r Hamma, Nazi warez admin" ... after clicking said link you'll see how everything is ok and the apocalypse isn't really that bad a thing

If you haven't yet, be sure to let the Hell Knight (big drooling guy) kill you at the end of the 3rd level. Awesome little scripted event.
Anyone who went to E3 or to QuakeCon will recognize that these levels are what were show in the "DooM Theatre."
Anyone know/remember the code for that locked door on e3_2? Ticks me off i have to noclip everytime. :D

Anyone else wonder if id gets someone to leak their games on purpose?
I know there was a Quake 3 leak. And i seem to vaguely remember someone talking about the Quake 1 demo being leaked before it was supposed to be released (not sure though). I didn't really follow Quake 2 as closely so I don't really know about it.
Could they leak on purpose to get more attention for their games? Not that they don't get enough already or anything.
