Bungie's next game is to be an massively multiplayer first-person shooter titled Destiny, if recent rumour reports are to be believed...

With Planetside Next, this "Destiny", and Blizzard's "Titan", could the genre be starting to populate? (Worth noting: Bungie and Blizzard are both a part of Activision. Would they put out two directly competing games?)

Yes because they are different developers. There is a difference between a Publisher and a Developer.

How does an MMO on the PC (titan) compete with an MMO on the xbox (halo)?

Titan isn't going to release for a few years at the minimum; someone leaked Blizzard's development schedule to mmochamp a few months ago.

I would take the whole thing with a grain of salt since if you actually read it they state they got the info from someone who claimed to be a disgruntled fired Bungie employee. But Bungie themselves stated they have not fired anybody recently in response to this.

Also I don't think it would be a Halo MMO since pretty sure Microsoft now owns Halo IP not Bungie.

I agree, plus I have noticed IGN has been putting out very vague, and not complete articles. In most cases I would say their articles are very seldom back up with facts. Even many of the reviews are of the same nature.

I remember there was an article about how the PS3 was going to be banned in the US. All of which was based off an already 3rd party article. Plus to add to the fact these are Korean(Samsung) and Japanese(Sony) companies not United States companies.

Kind of, I dont know if you have played or seen it recently they added a module world that you and everyone else goes in. I believe it is only a one server world. Normally yes it is completely Instance based. But they did change that.
