They have to be pretty. These things are very simple compared to somthin like planetside which has 1000x the depth. If they didnt look pretty there wouldnt be anything new, cause they sure dont bring any new gameplay in all these sequels. Although i do have to say that teh BF games are still vastly superior to the terrible CoD games for multiplayer. And i still may get it, it cant hold a candle to PS, but can still be fun for short periods. however i will not buy anymore CoD games, MW2 was terrible enough.

I just spit juice all over my monitor. Sure PS has scale (and perhaps a few more inches of depth) but if you think graphics are the sole reason I'm no longer playing PS and am playing BC2 you're delusional.

Different. This look much more serious too. Much lighter on the humor aspect, much more realistic feel. It looks like it handles well too. Anyone notice what type of helicopters they were using as the player popped up out of the basement? And if you stick with the trailer past the text, there's a nice bit for you too.

I was a fan of the humor as well, but this game definitely looks like it will have a long campaign (well, compared to most FPS's at least), just based on the amount of locations the developer mentioned. And did you see how many locations they went to? This is all on one level. I think their campaign design could be awesome.

Battlefield has never been a game where single player has mattered to me.
In that respect it's just like any other modern warfare shooter. The lengths you'd have to go to to make a real worthwhile story and avoid being pure cliche is rather immense. Yeah it might be fun to play, but it's not going to be a Bioshock or Half-Life, it's just not the focus.

Not that I wouldn't be super happy if they managed it.

The campaign will be around 12 hours DICE said. However most of the time developers exaggerate that so you can guess it's around 8 to 10 hours. However if the 12 hours are true it would be very nice. Especially if you look at games as Homefront with you can complete in around 4 to 5 hours.

The helicopters are MH 6 littlebirds. Also if you want to see what happens after the ending in that trailer you can see it here in this leaked footage: YouTube - Battlefield 3 Leaked GDC 2011 Gameplay It's around 2:20. Also some footage of tanks and jets after that (however very short)

It's a continuation from Battlefield 2. At least that's what I heard. I never played the storyline in BF2.

TBH I do not care about the single player; BF has, and always will be about the multiplayer for me.

If PS2 plays more like BF combat mechanics wise (weapon TTK, head shots, vehicle to infantry balance), I will be a happy man.

Battlefield 2 doesn't have a storyline. The only Singleplayer there was was just bots on multiplayer maps. If you mean Bad Company 2 is is wrong since DICE already said it had a new ''more serious'' story.

Who's to say there not taking the war with the russians in a serious direction? Just because their not continuing with the Bad Company characters doesn't mean they're getting rid of the entire thing.

Battlefield 3 takes place in 2014 as the Iran/Iraq border has become a global hotspot, and a group of insurgents calling themselves the PLF are gaining strength.

The story is probarly just a total new story, in a more ''realistic'' setting. I also thought someone from DICE twittered that it will be a different story. I dont think you are going to fight against the russians. I'd rather have the story in Bad Company being continued in a Bad Comapny 3. However we dont know much more so we have to wait for more information. Maybe we get more april 17'th since then the full 12 minute footage trailer is released.
