It was cool. At one point I was thinking: "wow, this just advanced to a whole new nerd level", during the discussion about the backstory and people were getting passionate about it, lol.

Sadly you don't have the ability to show new content for the first time (like new screenshots, etc) so you are limited to discussing what is known on the forums. If you were able to get your hands on some fresh content, or once the game launches provide some news/strategies/or some sort of value add beyond the discussion board, I think that would be great.

Discussion is good, but always looking for the extra reason to view the video instead of just reading the forums (unless I have nothing to do, in which case the video is a form of entertainment).

I'm watching it right now. I wish I could have been there last night but I had a party to go to. fyi i remember tigersmith messing around with some video site that allowed you to easily have multiple people (up to 8 i think it was?) on the screen at once, and you can easily swap people in and out of screen. I can't remember the name right now but tiger might remember. I'll have to look through my email and find it.

Yea it's on Twitch, I am trying to get it to Youtube also with less dead air at the beginning and without our error at the beginning.

But it was showing me 20 hours or so to upload.. so I am making some changes. The YT version will be a bit cropped to just the intros, and chat.

Maybe it's an idea to use Youtube Editing and add clickable bubbles at the first 10 seconds (people can just pause) which will hop to the relevant topic of discussion in the 2 hour video.

So for instance [Aircrafts] [Veteran acknowledgement] [Backstory] etc. You click on that it jumps to the time in the video where that discussion is! :)

I was sleep during the broadcast But i did watch the video after it was uploaded and I enjoyed it alot. and I have to say its really wild how decided Planetside people are. I remember playing with alot of you all even if we never spoke I remember seeing your name or you standing above my corpse :mad:

Definitely need to start hounding Higles for an exclusive screen shot or two. Be a great way to get an immediate reaction to what your guest think about it rather than being influenced by a forum discussion.

I think Destroyeron Should have been hired to write the backstory.

That or, there was I think a fanfic about core combat that came out years and years ago, but it was linked on the official Planetside site, that I really really enjoyed.

I also think he could have spent more time on it, or that they spent more effort in making the back-story solid.

I believe I could have written a better account of a battle or two, which describes the mentalities of the different sides, the opposition each empire finds in each-other, what sets them apart visually AND at the same time not even NEED to change any of the story from the first one. (But I would make Auraxis become ONE planet again, or discredit "The Bending" ever occuring, I still don't acknowledge it haha)

But as discussed in the video, good writing takes time. I have started on a novel I may only publish ten years from now, but if that's the time it takes - then so be it.

So perhaps he was rushed, or maybe he wasn't a PlanetSide player or fan until they got him on board. You cannot buy love for this game in any author, it has to come naturally.

Sure, we may be ruthless in our criticism of a fan-fic quality production on the PS2 site, but perhaps they will admit they didn't have much time to throw it together to keep the content starved mouths of their fans at bay. In this case, I'm sure that putting together some sort of community-driven event to reveal new screenshots for each faction. Maybe for referrals to the facebook planetside group or to get friends to sign up for the newsletter or send a screenshot of you holding up something Planetsidey.

I swear, their marketing department need brain-stormers that do crazy shit on a massive scale in cheap ways to promote the game!

This. Dont get me wrong, its not that their isnt a significant amount of the community that likes these discussions. But people like me are looking for new nuggets of love and would certainly watch 2hrs of vid for it!

It was a brilliant show. The time really flew by. I was surpised at just how good the production quality was, but I shouldn't have been since you guys rock hard. Definitely going to be watching every one you guys make.

You really did a great job of keeping the conversation moving and the whole show had a great flow to it. I know that is much much harder than it looks. All 4 of you guys (and lady) were awesome. I thought the guests were great too. I could listen to Basti say "beta" all day and never get tired of it.

Well I do have my hands on some press material that hasn't been released. It's not much (would just barely qualify as "something" new, nothing new for the game itself), but it should be relatively easy to get SOE to release it through AGN due to that (unless they already promised it to another site as exclusive, that I do not know).

I missed the AGN but watched the 2hr video . Loved it . Great effort from all concerned and a nice balanced discussion . I hope you manage to get some new info or guests next time, but ultimately you can only go with the flow ,prefectly understandable.
I wondered if it was possible to ask one of your contacts withing ps2 dev team ,if they watched the video and could comment on any of the topics discussed ,especially the cam thing. Even just a forum response?
I've generally always been a Vanu player at heart, but the new 'sexiness' and 'coolness' of the recent renderings makes me wonder if vanu is going to be the new NC , and all the younger end will be drawn to them . I'm beginning to find the TR more attractive. I like playing for the underdog , and like Hamma , I feel their presence in the development process kinda underwhelming so far.

I did think wow we had the AGN a week too early lol , but maybe by time of next AGN , we will have had tr /nc/vs weeks and more to discuss . Since a lot of detail would be lifted by then one or two devs might be allowed out of their cells to join in :groovy:

I kind of appreciate the vibe everybody has that a good story can't and shouldn't be rushed; I've been writing a TV show for four years and are only just talking to a studio about it.

On the whole, however, the story itself isn't too bad despite the fact I agree that the format could've been better. With a company like SOE, there's no reason the main studio couldn't make the game, and then outsource some of the story material to their sister-studio to create a motion comic.
