Probably not achievable with todays technology ( i think) but maybe if there is a Planetside 3 someday this idea could be put in.

For a fee players could send in pictures of their faces from different angles and a employee at SOE could convert them into 3D model that will be available for the player to use on their ingame avatar.

I know it probably cant be done in PS2 since unless you include every single face in the client game it will have to go through the internet and it will probably slow things down a bit.

Would be a good bit of PR though: "PS2, the only game with your face in it!"

An interesting prospect for the future. I'm sure the technology exists now, though- facial recognition technology was getting very good last I heard.

Of course, performance over graphics should be the standard.

You don't need different angles as a direct front face shot would be wrapped onto the model. However, the issue with this is that all of the faces would need to be regularly patched in and updated and it would add so many new textures that the effort would be immense. I wouldn't count on something like this.

You do if you want a 3D model of a face and not just an image slapped onto a pre-made model.

Ya, I'm just saying it can be done in a less resource intensive way.

Didn't Rainbow Six Vegas on the 360 have something like this?

I'm all about customization, but not really feeling the whole "I want my face on my avatar" thing.

...Why?

Only downsides I can think of is that people would be shooting your face... and then teabagging your face.
