The Republican Guard - YouTube

The Terran Republican Guard (TRG) - CONNERY SERVER (NORTH AMERICA)

The heavy assault, the shock trooper, the front line medic. Causing hell is what we do.

One of the oldest premier Terran outfits founded within Planetside on release day of May 2003, TRG is mature, Age 18+, highly structured "Shock and awe" outfit known for rapid response teams, organized heavy infantry assaults, and incredibly devoted support players. Our members boast some of the best Kill/Death ratios in our empire, and our "win" ratio as an outfit is extremely high against enemy rivals. We have a great working relationship with our friends and enemies, we're very sportsman like, and enjoy focusing on the most difficult battles. Since our creation in 2003, we have developed into a full fledged gaming community consisting of over 700 active members featuring:

1) Organized Operations Including: Gal drops, Max Crashes, Gen holds and other "Heavy Assault/Shock Trooper" themed tactics.

2) An active community built on the foundation of dedicated and loyal players including both "Killwhores" and "Supportwhores".

3) A very low turnover rate. We have a saying here at TRG: "Once a TRG, always a TRG". Our members are extremely loyal to the community.

4) A professionally designed web site, a hosted teamspeak server, and other hosted game servers.

5) TRG placed in the top 3 for Planetside 1's outfit wars on the Markov server.

6) Our group has successfully produced dozens of leaders still active within the Planetside community today.

The Flexibility to Dominate

"No bull, no drama, just business"

We have no required play schedules.

We do not place restrictions on your selection of class and our leaders will not micromanage how you play it. We become experts in our chosen fields. We are special forces. We are force multipliers.

We expect everyone to bring to the team what they feel will best help the immediate task at hand. Our leaders only specify the need and our members fulfill it as they see fit. Despite this, we stick very closely together. We're laser focused and not a mindless zerg of a mass of players.

We have a no fluff command structure that promotes respect among all members:

Leader
Outfit Officer
Platoon Leader
Member

Our synergy as a team was what we were known for in Planetside 1, and that is what we do in Planetside 2.

LOYALTY UNTIL DEATH!

A Global Community

Primarily based in the US, TRG also has a very large Pacific and Euro division which consists of players from all over the world including England, Germany, Switzerland, Australia, Malaysia and more. This gives us the flexibility to have a presence online at any time of the day - with raids and events in both the American and European prime times with different branches of leadership to support these endeavors. Regardless of whether you are an American player playing during the day or a European player playing at night, you will have the players and the support you need to make the most out of your playtime.

Recruitment

Interested in joining? See below:

Here at TRG we recruit two key qualities: the ability to learn and propensity to listen; because we firmly believe that even the newest player possessing these two assets has the potential to become one of the best. New or old, if you share these qualities you'll find a good home here with TRG.

We are Active and Recruiting in preparation for Planetside 2.

Age 18+ required. Teamspeak 3 required. You need to be able to listen to instructions. Forums use and registration also required.

We take on all players of all skill levels and provide training.

Drama queens, under-age, needy or demanding individuals, lone wolfs, and poor attitudes NEED NOT APPLY. You will be quickly weeded out.

To join: go to our website at www.trggaming.net and register and CONFIRM your e-mail address in your e-mal box, then log in and proceed to the application forums (the only forum you can see) and fill out an application. Be sure to check back! We often ask questions in your application thread before approving you!

Just wanted to pop into this thread again and say I really think TRG and Sardus are a great group of people and gamers. I played VS Markov against TRG most of my time in PS1 and I have nothing but good things to say about them. Humble, competitive, and they seem like they have a great time with each other.

/full endorsement (I almost NEVER do this.)

Again, I lead an outfit called Future Crew - I've never been in TRG, I just find them to be a very awesome group.

Thanks Shock, that means a hell of a lot to hear. Big ditto back to Future Crew - best Vanu we've ever fought by far (and damn HARD buggers to kill too).

Also, p.s. no more reaver or mossie whoring for you or sky... but the scythe looks damn awesome. Also, do some of your guys play Natural Selection 2? i think i ran into a few

As for NS2, I'm not sure but it's entirely possible - our members are spread out through lots of different games.

We are a mature outfit/gaming group - which means that our vent chat is not full of "man am I wasted" and "I have a bigger ePeen than you" types of comments. We are well established, and have a variety of personality types from all across the globe. Lone wolfs need not apply, we are a team based outfit.

Not an amazing killwhore or support whore and afraid to ask to join? Don't fret, we have enough senior leaders who are willing to take the time to show you how to improve on your gameplay. Not everyone in our outfit is just about K/D and stat pumping. I, for one, enjoy teaching a new recruit the ropes to watch them grow and improve to be a more effective team member.

Sign up today!

Also to add onto what bolbis said we branch out to many games not just Planetside. Most of our members play more than one game. Though dont get me wrong Planetside has always been our bread and butter and with PS2 coming out we will be back in full force.

An old write up by one of our members Ahastar, once featured in a previous edition of Planetside's Player of the Month postings:

Here it is from my eyes.

The moment the bell rang us into battle, TRG went off like a machine. Troops scattered out of the spawn room. Squad Orange and Purple fielding the first set of Prowlers and were off of the road while Shidhe packed the gold squad into his clown car AMS. And off we rolled!

I think one of the most important factors in our success was our outstanding tank team. What impressed me the most was not even your fighting strength or your perfectly performed pack play. No, what really underlines your quality is the fact that you took five, six of the most slow to man, most slow to drive vehicles in the game and drove them to the doorstep of our enemy before they could even get their Vanguard team ready. Despite the one man crew requirement and despite the higher top speed. That alone tells whole stories about how good you are. Please keep it rolling. Not even for the glory of TRG, but because for me to see the beauty of how good a Prowler can possible be. Thank you.

At this point I am afraid I cannot offer further stories of our tank team, simply because I was a member of the shock troopers in the gold squad. Shidhe drove off and we waited patiently in the spawn room, ready to decon after having finished CE fortifications on our own base. I flipped open the map to read the battle. The tactic was perfect: Our Prowler crew met their cavalry at the south door. The hotspots burned and Shidhe took that chance to, with all his experience, drive that AMS behind a well situated hill right out of the backdoor sited SOI. The order was issued, squad gold deconed to the AMS and, for the first time, we rushed in to annihilate their generator.

Honestly, with the entire gold and small parts of the orange squad around me, Sardus at my right and Jedi at my left shoulder, I was rather certain this was already endgame. Bodies of our foes piled up at every doorstep leading to their generator, badly screaming for help. You simply do not casually walk into a TRG gen hold and expect to live. Everyone at my side not only had the sheer personal quality of a veteran, no, our outstanding teamplay easily made us more than the sum of our individual talent. Single AMEDs rushed to aid the fallen while the rest covered the doors. Ammunition was deployed and shared. Sharp bullets were fired. In the end though due to dedicated AMS work and one final all platoon push, Section 8 managed to storm in. In the hectic of the battle my gaze narrowed and all I recall is the guzzling of MCG belts and the bolts from my driver and Jedi's next to me rushing though the air with razor grim delight! In the end though him and me were the only two left still standing. The reason was simple: Being snipers, we stood the farthest in the back. We managed to retreat into the gen room, knowing it was over, but determined to let them pay in blood. I don't recall know how many we took out in there together, but I still remember my Punisher eating through two before I fell next to Jedi.

On and on the battle went. New concepts and ideas were formed. The prime example being deploying an AMS next to a tower to hack out Maxes from it while still playing by the rule of the game. And off I started with my own mobile spawn vehicle. I took the same route Shidhe employed when he opened up the clown car show. I met an enemy AMS on the street, headed towards our base and gave him the V-V-W while driving to his. Eventually I deployed precisely at the same spot Shidhe used back at the beginning. I was alone and their backdoor was well CEd. Taking a safe distance and spot behind a dried out tree I polished off both my Bolt Driver and my plat sniping merit and went off on the tremendous task of sharpshooting down helpless immobile objects like Spits and Sensors. After that heroic task I tried to rush into the backdoor, but a certain Vanny's 150mm apparently had objections towards my plan. Or it didn't like my face. Either way, the result was the same.

But the fight was not yet over. Convinced that I was shot into the realm of eternal STFU, the Vanny drove off on its merry way, little did it suspect me having my good ol' buddy AMS with me. I spawned again. The CE was still destroyed of course and the way was free. And not just for me! I have no idea how and where LadyWolf came from. It wasn't from my AMS and he can't have used a Skeeter either since he arrived at their BD in REXO. But honestly, who cares! A friend during a rough time, that is what was needed. I grabbed my gen sabotage gear consisting of 8 ACEs, my Bolt Driver and my jammer packed Punisher and joined Lady down on the second generator tour.

We arrived in the cellar uninterrupted, unnoticed even. Lady hacked us in while I got the ACEs ready. Truth be told, we both acted as if we were utter freshmen due to the meaning of the task at hand. Lady fired the Striker into the Generator once, thus of course alerting the entire base while I tried to set up my instant nuke boomer array. Now I did that hundreds of times and I *dare* anyone to say he could deploy one faster than me, but this time my fingers just shivered. Knowing that most likely half of Section 8 was on the way to us due to the warning the base issued about its generator in striked distress didn't help either. And sure enough, the first infantryman arrived. LadyWolf tried to hunt him down with the MCG, but a Jackhammer at narrow space is a Jackhammer at narrow space. Getting desperate I jammed the Boomers I had ready so far, knowing it wouldn't be enough but hoping for the best. The generator survived.

Lady, I thank you for wounding that Section 8 member that badly with your MCG that I was able to switch my Punisher to 9mm and make short work of him even without a battle nade inside of it to help me out. The fact that you managed to drive your enemy's health down like that gave me the time I needed to place two more Boomers and trigger them. I didn't make it out of the generator alive any more, but nor did my foes. For the second time of the night, the NC tech center was back in the Stone Age. Was it fate that this gen nuke happened precisely at the time our dedicated Prowler team entered their courtyard? I do not know, but it was incredible luck. With no chance to gather armor due to the lack of power, our cavalry took the Courtyard, our Ground Support drove no less than four AMS into their very hearts and our predatory infantry hunted the few survivors down within their very home. Their neck was broken!

Our enemies got nervous and accidentally broke a vital rule, thus having their team weakened even more by the consequences. They never gave up though. We had to struggle to the very last second to keep our hack going, but to make it simple: Once TRG has its stationary defense deployed including MAXes, you frankly do not take the position from us if you do not have more manpower. Since we were outnumbering them by that time due to their unlucky tower capturing, overwhelming us was not an option and we took in an impressive victory. From second 1 we were on the offense, never to lose it again. The few base hacks we received were quickly killed down. The day was ours. TRG: I am glad and honored to be a part of you! You have talent, you have teamplay, you have incredible discipline! Keep all of it up because...more foes will linger.

You won't have any problem finding TRG members to play with during your play schedule - we have people on all throughout the day.

Dear Sardus,
Hello, I am interested in joining an TR outfit. I am currently located in Germany, however, I am not German, therefore, i wanted to join an international and English speaking outfit, would TRG be a good fit?
As sad as it is, I did not have experience with PS1... however, i am an above average FPS player who is very exited to have the full experience on PS2, which to me seems to require being in an outfit.
If it is of any help, I am recently playing Tribes:Ascend and am currently at level 27 (name is D3LTAF0RCE), without any boosters used, it is not a perfect game to recommend myself with (since the gameplay is not exactly the same), but better than nothing.
Thank you for reading,

P.S.
I signed up in planetside-universe just some hours ago so that i could contact you^^ and now that i read over my post i get an impression of being some kind of 50 year old, I think i am a bit nervous since this is my first post...

Big game slike this.. you don't want to run it alone with all randoms etc. you want coordinated team efforts to raid bases or big defense.

I know myself.. being retired Military and an avid FPS gamer...I am def looking for an established TR group to join and help me become aclimated to the game.
If you're a TR player you can't go wrong with Black Widow Company (the post above).

I'm also going to throw our hat out there... TRG has been around since Beta of 2003 and we also have several military and retired military serving in our outfit. We're age 17+ Teamwork orientated.

For the application just predict what you would be named and what you would like to play as.. None of it has to be set in stone. it's more of getting to know your mentality for this game for us etc.

Also Being in TRG will likely help you in the beta key thing as we will surely take care of our own when it comes to that when possible.

Good afternoon. I was looking for a fun outfit to join for Planetside 2 and came across this thread. You guys sound exactly like what I'm looking for.

I submitted an application under the name I'll be using in PS2 (BigBo). This name (Shott) was from PS1 and will be retiring it.

Not sure if there still is a way to look up stats online, but I mostly played as Grumli3 in Planetside 1.

Looking forward to playing a Medic in PS2, and perhaps an infiltrator on occasion. Thank you for your consideration.

You guys look like a good outfit to join.

Just wondering, I am not currently playing any FPS games, just EverQuest2.
Would like an outfit to hang with when Beta arrives, I should be getting a key.
Should I just app when beta comes out or would it be better start now?

Never actually apped to something when the game wasn't out yet. lol

I am drawn towards the support classes like medic, and engineer but would like to try pretty much everything out at least once.

I am Eastern USA, probably play late night/afternoons

Hello Ragefighter!

I'm a new recruit myself, so I'll wait for Sardus to poke his head in here with the official details. He's West Coast so he's probably still asleep.

Personally, if you're interested in joining TRG, I'd recommend hitting up the website (trggaming.net) and filling out an application. Any person recruited before beta starts gain automatic Member rank (skipping New Recruit) so that's a nice bonus for those of us who pick our allegiances early.

The PS2 forums on the website are active, but you can't see them until your application is approved. I'd definitely recommend bookmarking them and popping in frequently.

Anyway, glad to see another soldier show interest in TRG!

Ragefighter I would probably app right now cause then you can get to know the community we used to play EQ2 a lot we have some members who still have their accounts active even.

Might as well dive in, we socialize a lot on the forums and would like our members input when they can give it.

Not to mention the logistical nightmare it would be.

Thank you Symmenix for your interest. Unfortunately we are already in a committed alliance with our friends from Global Agenda and I do not have the authority to invite in other guilds. I have more questions, hope thats OK.

Is the outfit considered more casual or more serious/competitive?
What is the outfits ideal "size" as far as active PS2 players?
What is the current size/guesstimate of future PS2 players?
How big of an operation can the outfit/leadership staff run (or want to run)?
Will this outfit work within the ingame system, whatever it is, and listen/work with global commanders and other outfit leaders to achieve common objectives, or will this outfit more often be going off on its own track, setting its own objectives?

Thank you for your time.

EightEightEight

Is the outfit considered more casual or more serious/competitive?

This is an interesting question as we have some serious/competitive as well as some casual like myself so we have leaders for both aspects so you can do both or one. It makes it nice cause if you have a day where you can play all day you can be the competitive and serious player. Where as a lot of the older members have work, children and wives that they have to balance with gaming they have to play as a casual aspect.

What is the outfits ideal "size" as far as active PS2 players?

Enough to have good operations and enjoy the game. In the original Planetside we were fairly large and sometimes that was an issue because members went by the wayside. We defiantly do not want that to happen this time. We should be able to run 2 platoons on the weekend. We haven't gotten into beta yet I think the amount of people we will need or want will defiantly become more noticeable when that happens. Then we can answer this question better.

What is the current size/guesstimate of future PS2 players?

See the above answer, as well let me add. I think that it will be a good game if SOE advertises correctly. We have been doing our best part to get the word out because we remember the good times from Planetside 1 and would like to enjoy that again with as many people as possible. Size Always Matters

How big of an operation can the outfit/leadership staff run (or want to run)?

I think if the past shows anything, it's that we can run a big show. Sardus has run the entire Zerg on multiple occasions and we are developing an EU division to fight for TRG while the Americans are at work. We would like to run large operations, we would need to get into the game to see how big.

Will this outfit work within the ingame system, whatever it is, and listen/work with global commanders and other outfit leaders to achieve common objectives, or will this outfit more often be going off on its own track, setting its own objectives?

The majority of TRG were the primary Global Commanders for the First Planetside we had the most CR5's on Markov for a very long time so we are not against running with everyone else. That being said during this time we had spec-ops squads within the outfit that went on their own to wreck the oppositions back lines so our front-lines were able to move smoothly.

Granted some of the other officers might have different answers to these questions as a lot is still up in the air but I felt getting you at least something of a response would be good.

Thanks for the answers.

My reasoning for asking is because I kind of feel like I want to immerse myself in a "big" war machine this time around. Somewhere that I can feel like a cog in the works of a master plan. (and eventually help be a part of the plan) Between the size of this unit and the CTC alliance, I'm just trying to decide where I best fit in.

Well, I cannot speak for Ironfist or Cybernetic Punks, but TRG offers you more than just the "Planetside member", we are a community.
We play a multitude of different games, of course the forerunner in our line-up will be Planetside 2 once beta begins.

As a new member of the TRG brotherhood, I can say with experience that they are a very welcoming and open group of guys and girls, from those that I have met so far, they are very easy to get along with.

All you would need to do, to become that cog in the machine is to be a part of the community, it is run more as a democracy than a dictatorship.

It is actually yourself that would determine how much of a part you will play within the outfit/community, if you speak up and of the mind then you will be listened to, if you go out of your way to do something to benefit everyone, you will be rewarded/praised.

If you are wanting to have fun and enjoy playing Planetside 2 and you feel you can actually contribute then TRG can definitely be the place for you, that being said, we are still serious and have plans in motion that will rock the Planetside world, come and be a part of it.

Effulgent
2012-06-15, 06:47 PM
Just to clarify though:

While we do decide many things as a community, when we run outfit ops, one person leads and everyone else follows (unless we are running multiple concurrent operations, but you get the idea)

TRG was very active with directing and helping the big war machine. We did not belong to the Zerg, but we had a large influence on where the Zerg followed. But if you want to feel like you're apart of something epic, you'll find a great home with us. That is what we love to do. There are other GREAT TR outfits that do this as well, but we'd be interested in having you for sure! You'd have a lot of potential here.

Think about it and apply on our forums if you're interested.

Hey RedOctober, I think your MBT teamwork gunnery thread is right on.

This is a major concern of mine, not allowing the gunner of prowlers to swap out the mains to a dedicated gunner is a huge mistake and you can bet I'll be rallying hardcore if there is not a movement to allow the option.

Keep up the good fight, I'm backing you on this one!

When I use vehicles I go lightning mostly scouting the area 4 my brothers so they can travel safely and take easy kill shoots.

I have not played in a outfit before in ps1 but I have played in serious bf2 clans so I know what the clan / outfits is all about.

Hey TRG, just came around to the forums after following news and such about Planetside 2. I am incredibly stoked to play this game. I always loved games with lots of action and lots of players.

Unfortunately I missed out on Planetside 1 in its prime, so I can't speak from any experience involving the game. But Planetside 2 looks like something I would really enjoy. I'm chomping at the bit to get into beta (as we all are).

I really like the idea of organized team work, especially in a game like this. Just watching the live beta streams I can't wait to get in and play. Though currently my schedule kind of sucks, and I'm in the process of rebuilding my PC.

But, you guys sound like an outfit which I could see myself in. In all shooters, I was always about teamwork, and being right in the action, or back behind the lines supporting my teammates pressing forward.

I was always one to play an assault class or medic. From what I have seen in this game, Light Assault and Combat Medic seem right up my alley.

So if you guys are interested in taking someone on new to the Planetside Universe, but who has some great shooter and teamwork experience, I can totally be that guy.

Thanks in advance.
