Hello there!

I'm the creator of Terran-Republic.com, a dedicated fan site specifically built as a home base for all Terrans. My goal was to build a community site in efforts to bring all mighty Terrans together under one unified banner. This will be a place to recruit new members, advertise your outfit, show off your websites, videos, screen shots, and whatever else you'd like.

I also have a Facebook Fan Page with over 200 likes in one week! From there we post the very latest intel gleaned from PS2, and now PSU (with appropriate link backs), Twitter too, for those so inclined to use that service, and a YouTube channel of mine with over 380,000 video views, and 1500 subscriptions!

We are in need of new members to help our community grow, so if you are a mighty Terran, please sign up and help us spread the word!

Actually my team and I were considering doing the other factions as well. This site took about 4 days to construct from start to finish, so it wouldn't be that hard to do. We were just waiting to see if there was an interest from the community to construct the other sites.

Every Empire should have a separate team maintaining it if you wish your page to become an official gathering place of it's members once the game starts. Also it would be good if you had to link your Station account to it to gain access as a proof of your allegiance to prevent the prying eyes from finding out "sensitive" info.

I had an idea to have a private, hidden section reserved for Verified outfit leaders..so we'll see what happens. Hopefully the community will embrace us, and we can all work together to really kick this pig into high gear.

Dedicated sites for all 3 factions would be indeed nice.

And i hope you do this. This way you could build rather awesome features (like something to use for a united command for a specific faction on a specific server) right in, and have it useable for every faction.

The idea we have is to make these other sites, but have the forums run by well established members from PS2 or PSU. It's too big of a task for just 3 guys, and myself, the guy who built the site. We already have the Facebook fan sites, so feel free to light those up if you like.

Well, if you host a VS site, im happily spending my time to moderate the thing, and make sure its just VS there.
But i cant afford to host stuff. :D

I do know that the domain names have been snapped up for some time, so it is possible they'll do it again. We got the hyphenated ones, and some other mystery company has the originals..hmmm..

Hello all. I'm also a mod over at TR and want to thank the staff and entire community of PSU for their support.

Also, we've been discussing a lot hosting the sites for the other two factions. I'm all for it! But like our admin said, we will need help modding it because it's a ton of work. We're just a few friends who enjoy gaming and thought it would be a great idea to bring the factions together.

Yes SOE launched the game with dedicated Empire speecific sites that went live during beta if I remember correctly, they had dedicated forums as well but linked to the other empire sites.

I would imagine they're still owned by SOE.

Thank you for your support. As of right now VS is in the planning stage. If we have enough support like we've had for TR and NC then we might go forth with it.

We are always looking for mod's to help out. I should also state that we want these sites to be run by the community for the community.

Ok, I may have a TR name and signature, but that was all really made for promotional purposes. My team and I saw the need for faction specific sites, and wanted to take the time, effort, and money(over$300 so far) to do this. Myself, Eric, and Jairo are all faction neutral, and we do not belong to any outfit/clan/guild.

When beta comes, and the full game eventually, we've said we'll have characters for each faction. We look forward to jumping into a TS server with the various groups whom have posted recruitment statements on our website, and playing for a little while with them.

So please, do not take my posting in this NC thread as "oh shit a TR guy runs the NC site". I built it, Eric runs it, and it's all good. Comprende?

Nice Idea - Nice Site - book marked it as well as the New NC one as a reference - So many sites, so many forums, so little time, hmmmm - I need to rank them in order of importance, per the time I can pull myself from playing PS2.

Well in that case, we'll never get a VS site. The technology to do it justice does not yet exist :cool:

Seriously though, I look forward to seeing it. It will be interesting to see how these sites evolve with the game. More community interaction = more gooder.

With just 2 guys in my team, we cannot possibly run all 3 by ourselves. We really want to promote active members to the ranks of moderator, and other positions. The whole idea was to make the site's community driven, not 3 guys rotating between them.

The response to the TR site has been good. The NC site was requested by quite a few people, and only 2 people have shown interest in VS. So as you can see, we'll need a bit more involvement from people before we move forward.

I know a lot of people are using PSU as a hub, and rightly so, it's great. I also know people are waiting for the PS2 team to make faction specific sites as well. The only thing that's going to separate us from the rest, and we knew this going in, was the community driven aspect of this whole deal. We want YOU, the players to drive our sites forward. We want YOU to also have a say in how it's run, and the direction it takes. That is the heart and soul of a fan based site like ours.

Enjin is great, it works well for us in vm at least:D It does have some downtimes but the longest i have seen till this date was 10 minutes. I cannot give you a complete overview of it tough, its valrak who leads the entire site:p

Central Command is a collaboration of leaders in the Terran Republic to progress the goals of the Terran both in and out of Planetside 2. CCom is a mechanism designed to provide TR players strategic directives for the betterment of all TR players. hey guys, when i was browsing the internet last night i came across a NC empire site.
after some more reasearch i discovered someone had started a project to make a site for every empire!

they look really good and i think it is a great way coming in contact with your empire and potential outfits.

Nope, those domains are not, and never have been owned by SOE.

In fact the vanu one is just the website for raging primates's outfit.

The domains of the old and official sites were:

so if you want to watch a website, watch those.

They went offline years ago and were part of the marketing push surrounding core combat. They sort of served as little instuctables about the empire you chose, and the best way to fight with each weapon.

There were disclaimers on each site clearly stating that they are not owned by SOE, or it's employees, or holdings. 100% fan based. Even got the approval of Matt Higby when starting the sites.

Yes 2 of the 3 sites were hacked, yes VS remains untouched. Pretty fishy if you ask me. I'm not pointing fingers, I'm not laying blame, but come on people, it's a VIDEO GAME for pete's sake!

The forums for both sites are still up and active.

Doubt its connected, i think its rather the fact that the VS is connected to a well known portal which are used to that sort of problems.

OT Ive been working on something for VS myself, vanu-sov.....com was just faster than me:)

But ill give you a grasp of the general framework.
And the purpose of the site is semi RP, grasp the feel of a real military site somewhat and secure forums for outfit / leader discussions was even thinking of specific outfit forums for specific outfits etc.

It's hard to say really. Enjin is not without it's misgivings, that's for sure. I like being able to have total control of my sites, and frankly, I'd be embarrassed to use Enjin. But hey, to each his own, and good luck. I freely offer my assistance to anyone who wants it. I see the bigger picture here, we're all PS fans. That in itself is a brotherhood, even across empire lines.

This is off topic of the main thread, but I think you'll be better served learning WordPress and having a separate forum solution. Your site gets popped with Enjin, and you lose everything. Mine got popped and only lost the front site. Honestly, I could have it back up in an hour if I wanted to. I save everything.

Presentation is everything. You may not think it, but if your site looks like shit, nobody will join. It's a delicate balance between beauty, features, and performance. Also, no site is unhackable, it just comes with the territory of being an admin. Look at SOE, makers of PS2. They've been hacked. They have security tighter than you and I may ever have. It happens.

I'm the owner of the http://vanu-sovereignty.com site and I can assure you that I would not delve as low as to hack opposing faction portals. I'd much prefer to get even while in-game!

I also chose my host carefully. Enjin has a good track record of holding up against the craziest of Denial-of-service attacks, something you can't get for a similar price point.

I wish you well on the web front and hope you can repel future attacks!

I'm glad you registered the domain out from under me, to be honest. Running one bad ass site is difficult enough, let alone three. As far as pointing fingers, I never directly did. It was more of an attempt at bad humor.

I have a good host as well, and even the best hosted sites get DDoS'ed. Look at FBI.gov. they get dossed and are down occasionally too. Pretty hard to stop a dedicated botnet with hundreds of zombies. Best thing about dossing is it isn't permanent.

This is what i have so far.
Purpose of the site is to gather Vanu Outfits and encourage a colaboration between them through secure channels of communication.

Joint Strikeforces, Strategical planning.

Not only that, but also a place where people can share their stories and experiences abit semi RP if you wish.

There's also a outfit / alliance system where people essentialy can create their own discussions / outfits on the site which give em access to Outfit Photos/Videos/Discussions/events specificly for that outfit.

And ofc it can be set to invite only.

To get access to the secure channels you must get verified, to get verified im thinking something in the lines of...

We have to talk to you ingame, on the forum, on your site, on voice coms and you have to be recommended by another outfit thats already verified.

Last bit will be abit hard for the first couple of outfits but we'll work that out.
Was thinking that 1 person will have to represent the outfit in the secure section?
We won't be completely secure from spies but we sure as hell can make it harder for em.

Not sure if any of that made any sense

The hack had nothing to do with PlanetSide or faction, it was a random attack based on common software exploits. If you look up the name that was on the home page you can find their Facebook page where they display links to all the sites they have "provided a security service" for.
