I never played PS1, I know, I'm sorry. Back when I saw my first gameplay of PS2 I knew TR was the faction for me. Fast weapons, Fast vehicles, awesome color scheme all wrapped up in an oppressive sci-fi government.

I'll admit, when I first started I really liked the style of the TR, I just couldn't get behind their back story. Red and black just look too damn good together.

Let me get this straight, The Vanu Sovereignty are a group of people who want to better themselves through technology and eventually ascend to what the Vanu became(in the process losing their humanity)... The Terran Republic is run by an oppressive government but have lasted for more than a 1000 years in peace(oppression)... and the New Conglomerate want to all be free, even though they rely on corporations to sponsor(is that the right word?) their little rebellion, in which case the corporations will probably run the show in the end?

Man, these choices are tough lol... I ended up with Terran Republic from the quiz, thank god too, I really was having a hard time choosing the lesser of 3 evils.

Agreed. I think the Vanu are the obvious lesser evil, personally, but I like how every race has a critical flaw. No matter what side you fight on you've got something to fight for and against.

I was tempted by the NC, but I just struggle with the general colour scheme and uniforms. Its as if the entire army is sponsored by Nerf.

NC has the best looking Infiltrator and MAX though, no arguments there.

That was a great quiz, it really showcases the key points of the 3 factions. It really helped me to decide what faction to join at face value. But in the end it is actually playing the factions and where my friends are that will be the biggest factors on choosing a faction. But as it stands I am leaning towards the Terran Republic. Their gameplay sounds good, their color scheme is really good, and their numbers makes it seem like they will win eventually.

I already was leaning towards Terran Republic for the looks of their Vehicles, Armor, Color Scheme, and Weapons. I did the quiz and what do you know it reinforced my decision! Now I am TR till the end. XD

You're joining the Vanu Sovereignty. No, you don't get a choice. What's that? You said you had friends? They're joining too. No, you don't get to have a choice. This is conscription. Don't like purple? Too bad, at least your medic can tell when you're bleeding out. Don't think our tanks are fast enough? You know the only thing speed is good for? Running away. We don't run, we step to the right and then shiv the bastard right in the neck. What's that? You want a big 3 barreled mess of metal and scrap? Trying to make up for the weapon God gave you? Our weapons are the only ones that shoot straight and don't require you to take your target to prom night just to get close enough to do any damage. You want a pretty and sleek little bird that goes fast? Being pretty, sleek, and fast doesn't win dogfights. Turning radius wins dogfights and there's nothing that turns faster than a Scythe. Not even an NC when forced into a real fight can turn around faster. You like those TR with all their talk about glory, charging, and nobility? You know what's better than all that? Winning. And to help you with that our God given scientists have come up with a weapon that allows you to shoot around corners with out needing to put your pretty little face in danger of catching bullets. Thats pretty much the NC in a nutshell. Slower firing weapons but any individual shot will do more damage then any of the other Empire's weapons. NC weapons do, however, tend to have smaller magazine capacity and I believe longer reload times. So you really have to make those shots count.

If accuracy is more important to you though then the VS take the cake since their energy based weapons don't have to worry about bullet drop off over range. Each shot goes exactly where its supposed to. The farther away you are from the target the less damage a shot will deal, unlike the bullet weapons the TR and NC use, but I'd imagine that effective ranges are comparable to any of the other Empires.

However, politics and ideals doesn't interest me that much (in a game). For me it will depend on one thing only. Which faction will have the superior air-to-air craft.

In the wiki it states the scythe (VS) is made to counter the mosquito and reaver. If that holds true, VS it is then... huh, guess the quiz might be right afterall then...

To the people who are wanting to go VS. Know that they WILL BE NERFED A LOT!!!

TR make it their goal to be OP and easy mode, but they have too much ego to admit it. You also have to deal with ZeroEnigma and we all know he's a cave monkey. :)

NC just get picked on because they are smurfs and usually get caught in the middle of most fights due to their weaponry.

The VS is the empire with the most skill seeing how they get the most Nerfs and complaints about them.

Important nerfs I took note:

TR: MCG (not that it really did anything), GODJOEY

NC: JACK Hammer, Gauss Rifel

VS: MAX, Magrider, Lasher, Lasher agian, and Lasher again until it was pretty much useless and the VS have to use their medium assault Pulsar to kill anything.

I played the hell out of planetside back in the day, and I still don't know the backstory of any of it. It really just boils down to whether you like to wear purple, red or yellow.

Well if you're really looking at their aircraft the TR's Mosquito is the fastest of the three Empire's fighter craft, hands down. The VS Scythe isn't as fast but it is a great deal more maneuverable as its very as it can move in any direction equally fast. As opposed to the Mosquito which can only reach top speed if its traveling straight forward.

I don't think there are any hard numbers out for anything yet. The game is still in Alpha so of course there is still a lot tweaking going on. Even if we could get hard numbers they'd probably be outdated in week.

Basically, every faction can be percieved as either good or evil, this time around to a greater extent.

- Ask an NC about NC, and they'd say "They are the kind hearted corporations that listen to the masses. The mercenaries with a conscience. They fight the oppressive government, tied down in traditions that are no longer valid, and the fanatics that put their faith and hopes in prophecy and artificial progress, too eager to see where they are going."
Ask anyone else, and they'd say "They fight for egotistical goals under the guise of altruistic intentions. Mega-corporations angered by laws meant to stem chaos, and jobless mercenaries trying to create new venues. They are a devolution of the human race."

Back in PS, it was more of a "Power!", "Freedom!", "Technology!" trichotomy. While this time around, it's basically the same, but they have added arguments for and against each into the lore of the game. So it's more interesting choosing your empire, since you aren't just subscribing to a play-style, but to a greater extent, also which arguments you might find to be the most probable one - at least if you are undecided. :)

I've been torn between the three factions, and I've been unable to choose. I've mostly been leaning toward TR or NC, and according to the quiz I should be going TR. I'm still not entirely convinced though. I love the NC tank, and I'm not a huge fan of red. Other than that, I really do prefer TR. Perhaps I'll get used to/start liking the TR colours once I'm in game?

Vanu have the highest maneuverability
TR have the highest top speed

It gave me New Conglomerate, but I'll try all three before settling on one. I never played PS1 to really get an opinion on the factions, although fluff-wise I'd be firmly on the Vanu side of things... But I don't care for their color scheme and have a preference for projectile weapons...

I wound up getting the New Conglomerate but I'm still not entirely sure, I think it will come down to testing each one. I was initially considering Terran Republic (mostly because TotalBiscuit was hyping them out honestly, yes its a bit sad) however I'm not always a fan of high rate of fire weapons so NC does seem like a better fit for me. I guess it all depends if anyone I know starts to play and go where they go

Well, that quiz only gave back the same factions I was already considering: It initially told me VS, and when I flipped question 5 from maneuverability to armor (I think they're both important) it instead gave me NC. (I can't really see myself playing TR)

What empire should I pick if I'm a big fan of Soviet red army during the Great Patriotic war? I have kind of a sledgehammer approach in combat as in I dive right into the fire and start smashing some skulls in. I'm also looking forward to being an interceptor pilot, so Vanu is appealing in that, but their ground unit's are not what I'm really looking for. Any help?

Well TR is the reddest and most soviet-vibed of the armies, but the NC have more of the sledgehammer approach while the TR are more chainsawy.

For me it was easy, one look at the MBT's and fell in love with the Vanguard tank so NC it is for me :D

Side note: will try the other two as well since it is beta and all just to be sure :P

If you just know a little bit of lore it is easy to see which question belongs to which faction, so I kinda went all Vanu except for the color part, where I chose Blue
