Class leaders are leaders of their chosen role and are essential at giving advice to other players of a similar play style if they ask or need help. Generally these players are people who play this role a lot and therefore know a lot about them.
If you're a Class Leader you get priority in fulfilling a role on the battlefield over others whilst also teaching your clannies how to play it more effectively.
