Could Matt explore some of the endgame content and complexity he expects to see for outfits that might go beyond retaking the same base every day for a week or being top of the killboards? What kinds of metagaming does he plan for veteran players to do when just killing people while capping a base (that you will lose again tomorrow) isn't enough?
Secondly, could he expand on how you will know if you're fighting a famous enemy outfit, or seek out an outfit you want to fight? Zebra camo alone is unlikely to be the domain of just one group of dudes. Ps1 didn't have names for enemies so you couldn't know for sure if you'd just killed a member of that elite group you're hunting, and it was circumstantial at best to know if they were in your area.

That will be roughly 5 weeks since E3 , I thought higby said beta was going to be in a couple of weeks , that's what he said at E3 , I doubt beta will start before this TS broadcast . 5 weeks is more than a couple of weeks is it not , or is it the case that mind games are being played ?

I wouldn't say its mind games. The definition of couple weeks varies from person to person. Not too long ago, Higby said he was looking forward to visiting China in a couple weeks. Higby's trip was about 5 weeks away when he made the comment. Just means he has a looser usage of 'a couple weeks' than most.

Can you please talk about what other base capture mechanics there are besides the "hack and hold" capture point system we've seen?
We've seen some talk about power generators in bases. Have you decided upon what function the generators will have?
Can spawn tubes, weapon terminals and vehicle terminals be destroyed or otherwise disabled?

Great to see Higby on Community Night! I am very excited for this one!
I think a very important thing to ask Higby about that we have seen discussed all over these forums is the flow of battle. I'd be curious to hear his opinion and/or plans involving keeping the battles from happening in the same places all the time due to the three way fight with footholds. I know people are concerned we will be seeing the center of the map and the same basic middle ground battle lines all the time like a constant stalemate. How will they be sure that we will see fighting in more areas than the center?

Can we get a better idea on where the cert customization is right now? So far things have been kinda "Well we can maybe do this or this might be added later, we're looking at it" kind of answers in regards to what certs will be able to do.

I'd love to know if he is feeling more or less pressure after E3. It got quite a few awards, and even more nominations. We've all had high expectations around here from what we've been seeing, but now it seems the media is much more aware of the game and its potential.

Why the building keep the RED strip why they are not like planetside one when the NC have the building these are Blue when tr these are red Why now they keep the redness all the time ?
Also if those are not going to change color why not make them a neutral color ?

Like here the Nc have the base but the stripes are still RED in those building i would like to know is this is going to change color and if not is their a chance to see it in (( neutral color if possible )) instead of red ?

If the game is using GPU Physx to run, what effects is that going to have on people with ATI video cards? What will they not see? How much of a performance hit is going to be seen?

well, obv u cant say what things PS2 will use at physx, i think the smoke,ragdolls, the smoke on the arctic map is done with physx also..

I think the two are directly related. Hamma and Higby have a nice, fun, friendly 2-way going on between TR and NC, and then T-Ray crashes the party. Sounds like classic Vanu behavior, to me.

Will bases on continents be swapped/transitioned/moved around occasionally to keep the battlefield fresh/dynamic/varied/?
e.g.
On release, maybe there's an AMP station in the middle of the map surrounded by farmland/farms, 3-4 months later it changed to a Tech plant with a few silo's and maybe 1-2 farm outpousts still remaining, the AMP station would end up elsewhere on the continent. Later on maybe its still a tech plant but the local outposts and nearby bases have changed.
How many common features will the mobile app and the web "statistics browser" share?
Leading to a dual Monitor support query, we know that mobile devices will have drone strikes etc (which sound crazy-fun), will this also be possible with a web-browser on a second monitor?
Jimmy Whisenhunt - Great idea pulling in an experienced competitive and analytical player into the team (especially as he frames his arguments well), whats is the scope for use of his experience? Will it only be to tighten up the gunplay or will Mr Whisenhunt be providing meaningful feedback on things such as travel methods/times, base incedental item placement (his 1.6 vs GO gave a few great examples of this) and respawn availability (squad spawn timer and drop innacuracy, will the galaxy be enough to provide mobile spawning, will towers and outposts need re-orientation/tweaking to be effective in a rolling battle)?

In game voice chat:
1. Can we adjust individual peoples mics and our own? Anyone who's used a voice program knows that sometimes, new people can either blow your ears out or whisper so low you think there's a ghost in your room.
2. If we /ignore someone, will it auto-mute their mic so they can't sneak into a squad your in and start trolling you again?
3. If there is still cross faction chat via /whisper like there was in PS1, is it possible to have cross faction chat via the voice chat? Maybe make it proximity? That way if we ever want to coordinate some outfit vs outfit stuff, makes it easier to throw something together.
Environment:
1. Any plans on some volcano/lava stuff? I saw a concept art where you want to do geysers, but an erupting volcano would be epic.
2. If you stand on the geysers, will they shoot you into the air? lol
3. If you do have natural disaster events, will they just be something to go "ooo pretty" or will they be like "oh shit, get inside right the fuck now!"?
Gameplay:
1. Are generators still on the table or have you guys scrapped the idea for something else?
2. Any plans on alternate ways to capture a base besides the Capture & Hold? Perhaps a LLU like in PS1 or King of the Hill?
3. Is there going to be Virtual Reality shooting ranges and vehicle ranges so we can test out stuff before we cert into it?

Please ask Matt to discuss "The Slippery Slope" of resource management and how to balance that against still having Empires able to conquer large sections of continents.
Also related: there has been much worry about stalled and stalemated frontlines - how will the devs prevent this?

Will water ever be a part of the game? It played a huge role in PS2 but it looks like it's pretty much absent in PS2. I understand wanting to have every inch of the map playable and capturable but having rivers create choke points for ground forces was a great aspect of PS1.

With the absence of vehicle hacking and from what we have seen from the E3 steams you don't need hacking to take a control point and I didn't see any doors to hack where will hacking come into play other than being able to hack control points faster then everyone else?
Or was is like that just for E3 (I'm hoping this is the case)

XP - we have seen on the videos xp awarded per kill and ver vehicle destruction, this appears to be a flat rate per kill. Will the xp vary in some circumstance, e.g. the person killed has stayed alive for some time (similar to PS1 xp gain)?

Earlier footage had discussed the potential to hack doors to spawn-points in bases to gain entry. We've only seen a few small facilities so doors may become more prominent as well, for example the Hadvar(?) short video showed soldiers shooting from a doorway with a force-field, that may need to be hacked for attackers to gain entry.
I believe TB's night-ops video also discussed hacking base turrets, though at the time it wasn't implemented.
Hacking might also enable you to take over an enemy Engineer's emplacements, though this is just speculation on my part.
Whether or not hacking will play a large role is still uncertain, but there are at least ideas in place by the Devs that were discussed. I'm sure we'll find out more in beta, and whether or not we need Hacking and if so what ways we can ensure it is both fair and effective.

This has been on my mind lately as well. With all of the visual customization options available - is there going to be a way we can visually identify a BR1 character from a BR40? Having something like this is pretty important I think.
Edit: question format for Mr Higby:
Q: Given that visual character customization can be done from the start, is there anything that visually differentiates a BR1 character from a BR40 character? (Planetside1 had gradual armor color changes as your character advanced in rank)

What kinds of interaction will there be between "hexified" zones/facilities ?
eg. hex with nanite generator speeds up energy regen for LA/Infils in surrounding hexes
Will those interactions be empire specific ?
eg. NC/TR objective: disable the nanite generator and resume mining ops (= boost resources gain), VS objective: activate the nanite generator (= boost energy regen)
How will the transfer of benefits from controlled territories/facilities work within the hex system (eg. vs. the lattice system) ?
I remember Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory as a game with a fun and dynamic objectives system.
Basically:
Will we have a map of hex-after-hex or a map where capturing hexes and their objectives dynamically alters the map and strategic situations ?

Some of us were under the impression that we would be able to customize our uniforms by empire color shades. As in a TR soldier would be able to customize the colors/shading of his armor along the lines of grey,black, and red. With camouflage patterns - Support for this style of customization seems nonexistent.
Is this kind of uniform customization going to make an appearance?

We already know the answer to this one is no :) Upgrades/sidegrade/camo takes the place of this now.

They have already handled it, each tank has a very unique silhouette as well as aircraft.

Q. Matt, You wished you had been more open in regard to First Platoon (elite of the elite per se).
With beta soon upon us there must have been many discussions within First Platoon about game play and general design. It has after all been at least a month since it was formed and we're lead to believe thats why they were invited in the first place.
Obviously anything related to weapons is not included since you recently hired someone with specific experience to handle that.
With the interaction of these members and Devs what specific input, if anything, has been implemented in to the game so far from the First Platoon participants, and was there anything you couldn't get from other established PS communities?
In that time I'd expect you'll have a plethora of changes, improvements, ideas you can share with us.
They are representing the rest of the community after all and some feedback would be appreciated.
Something other than a generic reply regarding "great ideas and meaningful discussion" if possible please, thanks.

My question is this: I was told by a member of my current outfit that Infiltrators are not considered very important within the ranks of the outfit in PS1. This was because people use hacks to view you even when still and the wide use of darklight implants.
As a returning veteran, that was disheartening.
I pride myself on infiltrating/hacking. What sorts of things are/were being considered to combat this, or at least, are you trying to cover all the sorts of ways people can manipulate their video cards to view the infiltrator?

I don't think it is possible to combat it unless they make infiltrators 100% invisible.
Probably already been asked somewhere in the reams of pages here, but was wondering about more details of the hacking and capturing systems for ps2.
1. Hacking - will there definately be doors/ doorway shields in game? I'd like to see them , it's a stop- function against max crashes , gives infiltrators a useful role and requires grunts to work in conjuction with maxes.
I haven't seen much from the e3 footage to suggest an 'outer wall' to bases. They look like a collection of portable buildings dropped from space in a random fashion to give the impression of a base.
2.Capturing- are there going to be multiple capturing systems in place? I know it was talked about that the 3 cap points could be switched around to different areas within a base, which is fine, ps1 was always a tad dull because the cap points were static within only 4/5 variations of bases.
Will there be any type of LLU system ie capture the flag incorporated so that tactics could be used to speed up the long timer for behind the lines bases? Even taking the LLU from said base to nearest owned base.
If there are 3 cap points in each base type, will there be a flag type thing to hack point A , flag appears , run to point B , hack , run to C , to cap a base.
3.Outfits- within the statistic pages etc will there be some kind of efficiency statistic for easy recognition of decent outfits. I don't necessarily mean k/d ratio type thing.
For instance, just looking at some of the outfits from Emerald, you have 3 outfits with 10 billion outfit points, DT did that with 50 active members vs the other 2 with over a 1000 members.
From that would it be possible to have a physical recognition on people (like sergeant stripes), so DT members would have like a 'General' stripe , and members of AT would be equivalent of private etc and so on?
I just see this as an added extra so the game isn't totally dominated by zergfits.

Question- Do you think squad spawning kills the need for Gal.drop or even the Gal its self?
Question-how do you feel about this -Cloker flys over deployed GAL. cloker jump out and lands on GAL.Cloker has his squad spawn on top of GAL and blows the GAL up from the pods .Who needs an os when you can just drop pods on it .

The interview is separate from the community discussion, the question list for the interview is something we review at least a week in advance.
Once beta is over and we move into release I think this will change but this is how we have to have it for now :)

01.) Will the Key Config be locked to the different profiles Such as

Planetside 1 allows you to set keys for these different profiles but they are not locked so if you set a key for one then try and set the same key for another it will not allow that.
02.) Open field combat: how is SOE going to balance softies outdoors especially with potentially a flood of one man tanks
03.) Heavy Assault Weapons: How is the design coming along? who is going to be able to use them? HA only?
04.) Griefing: How does SOE plan to handle friendly fire and griefing - similar to planetside 1 or different?
05.) Ask roughly how many Keys/beta signups they have had to date or any other indication of how big they are expecting the game to be :P
06.) I want to know how they plan to regulate the horror that is the F2P community. What's their plan for disciplining all the trolls, racists, and 4chan fucks that actively grief the community. More specifically what's to prevent these mouthbreathing dickbags from just making a new account.
07.) Will there be empire command structures similar to PS1 and the CR5 chat?
08.) When creating a character, will there be one set height (I.E. will you be able to make a super small, skinny toon that is harder to target)?
09.) Can SOE commit to there NEVER, under any circumstances, being BFRs and Space caves with multilateral zip lines brought into the game?
10.) Can you switch from WASD driving of ground vehicles to Mouse driving like in Halo with the warthog and if not can this be added?
11.) Can bullets pierce objects in PS2? For example can you both hit one guy and the guy behind him? Another example can you shoot through any terrain intentionally like you can in counter strike, ie doors, some walls etc?[/COLOR]
12.) Cloaking for infiltrators has been talked about in the past in terms of visibility while using pistols/knives vs rifles/sniping and we know that rifle using cloakers have a much weaker stealth, but can you talk about how Firing their weapon effects that stealth level? For example in PS1 a cloaker firing there machine pistol can sometimes still be lost in the heat of battle due to blur and their semi-stealth. In PS2 will heavier rifle cloakers need to become completely visible? What about snipers? Will they be clearly visible for a second or two after each shot in addition to tracers?
13.) How will turning penalties be implemented this time around? For example in heavier vehicles but more specifically in MAX suits. Will there be measures to prevent mouse sensitivity switching being so drastically powerful, like server limited turn speed or something?
14.) Will there be paid Stat resets in the cash shop? If that is an option can you pick and choose specific stats or groups of stats to change and not others? For example could you ever wipe out your death stat, or accuracy stat without losing life time kills? (lets hope not)
15.) For non-MAX infantry how much does their natural run speed differ? What about sprinting speeds? For example maybe HA and Scout run the same speed but scout can sprint faster.
16.) With weapon customizations, you can change things like CoF or "bullet damage vs refire rate" etc, but can [/COLOR]we change things like our Bullet Drop? Can I spec out a sniper rifle with extra fast bullets that counteract bullet drop at longer distances, what about on rifles or vehicles? I want to see mini-rocket propelled bullet add-on lol
17.) I'd like a confirmation about the resource cost of infantry customizations: If I unlock/buy an infrared scope for my rifle do I have to pay if I want to use that every time I respawn like the upgraded load outs for vehicles? Or are infantry mods one time buys always? Are there any other limits to what sights or mods I use on my rifle, like cooldowns or anything?
18.) Can you speak to our respawning options? For example will PS2 have a base or galaxy (AMS) binding system? Can we choose to respawn at far away friendly bases that on operational, or only the nearest one like PS1?
19.) Will PS2 use "whispers" or "tells"? Can we confirm cross faction communication, or will SOE poorly attempt to limit it some how?
20.) With PS2 having such a robust in game VoIP system, including iPhone and Android apps, might there be an option for a light desktop client for using it without all of PS2 open? Maybe you can begin to use it with just he SOE launcher open and signed up, but not the whole game open?
21.) Will there be 3D effects options for those with the monitor setup to do it? I believe SOE confirmed they aren't supporting Eyefinity or Surround for multi-monitors any time soon already.
22.) In the cash shop will there be model changing cosmetic effects? Example changing the size, shape, coverage of infantry armor pieces.
Follow up) Outside of Camo and color related skin changes how much control will we have on the over the look and feel of each class type? (will we be limited into preserving the white medic look, or the HA silhouette)
23.) What kind of limits are there on Engineer CE? For example limits on places mines in or near enemy bases? And ammo capacity, or cooldown, how are you limited in terms of the number of things you can setup each life? Can I setup 3 mana turret at once for my team? If I can have only one what are the limits on moving it or resetting it up if it dies?
24.) What will be the dev team's first priority post-launch? (feature-wise)

Well, they should do this for when they are completely still, but my point was the idea that there are hacks to even see the completely still in PS1.
I'd never heard of that before last night, but that was one reason they thought PS1 infiltrators are not so useful (mind you I'm not in agreement, there's no way I'm stopping playing infiltrator).
The other reason was that so many people have the darklight implant. I for one like taking risks and I totally accept that risk as I can't be sure that everyone has it, but if they do, the'll just have to try and catch me :)
Anyways, I'm hoping that these same hacks can not be achieved so easily. I did JUST see a video detailing several hacks, one being the cloaky view hack. Here's to hoping that it just can't be done, or it's extremely difficult.
Truly, the script kiddy-ish idiots who use hacks in competitive games are the ones loosing the joy of actually becoming skilled, yet, it's enraging to think people can't just play fair.

Head tracking + Head Mounted Display (like the upcoming $400 Oculus Rift (http://www.ausgamers.com/features/read/3226063)) would make it feel like you're actually on Auraxis (and how awesome would that be!!). =)

That's a really good one. Having a good set of favorites in PS1 was extremely important. I'd love to have say 20 slots for different loadouts on the go.

With the command tree, how are they going to balance the objectives so that the entire team doesn't zerg over to a listed objective? Will there still be enough incentive for other players to not do the objective for the sake of holding territory?
I am worried players will just zerg around to the command objectives to get the bonus exp and not really worry about holding other territories :(
EDIT: To add to my question. Can a commander also issue a command to stay and defend existing territory to help curb a team from zerging? If so, how many active objectives can a single commander have active at any one time? PPPS - What is to stop a commander from issuing a "defend facility" command on a territory not currently being contested so that his team can farm for extra experience?

I'm not totally convinced about the gameplay to spread the fighting out. But, in the ComicCon Higby said that the pop cap of 2000 doesn't mean a split of one third for each faction -> which means that unbalanced populations on a individual continent can permit the fight to move and that's good.

PS1 originally had imbalanced pop caps. Two empires could hit the normal pop cap, but the third would poplock at roughly 50% of the pop the other two did. This helped move the battle and reduced the impact of the third empire, but it also made the battle progression clear cut with no real options for alternatives.
