Hello all, I am wondering if PlanetSide 2 has any respawn function. And if so, if there is a difference for respawning when you are in a vehicle, while you are on ground, and while you are in treat?
Personally I wont mind a respawn button, for those couple mines when you can shot out of the air and you drop on the ground in the middle of nowhere. As long that doesn't mean players will be able to respawn while firing or are in treat (just got fired at) to escape from a final bullet.

You can choose your respawn after you die, so yes there will be a button and timer.
Points where you can respawn:
-Deployed Galaxy
-Outpost/Tower
-Base
-On a squad member (may cost resources and might be on a timer, we dont know yet until beta is over)
You dont respawn in a random location like in COD. You will be able to fire your weapon when you respawn, and you can be fired upon.

Not quite the answer I was looking for. I mean when you are running in the desert, out of ammo, 3 % health and absolutely no buddies or enemies around you, there must be an way to end that horrible situation right?

Lol I don't think there is going to be any way to do that. If you find yourself with minimum health, no ammo, or anything you're probably SoL. However, they may add the Instant Action again, so maybe you might be able to respawn back at the front. Otherwise, I've never seen any mechanics that allow you to "end the situation" right off. Especially since you're probably never going to find yourself in that situation :)
Final answer: There may be instant action again, so don't sweat the issue :)

Well there may be a solution if there is any high ground to jump from, otherwise just return to sanctuary, or if none available just turn on auto run, point yourself at an enemy base and go grab a coffee

I like this guy
I always carry a clutch of plasma grenades for just such a situation (and many many others). They should put in a Time Delayed Ctrl+K though.
With all the stat tracking, suicide by own weapon (as a stat) will often look like you don't know which way to hold your weapon, not you needed to kill yourself because you got stuck in some situation with no quick way home.
This way you hit ctrl+k, then maybe 10 seconds later you kill yourself, or possibly even decon to your available spawn options. And like PS1, if you're in an enemy hex, you get the 30 second delay. (assuming thats not already the case)

Well I would imagine if you found yourself in that situation then you've done something wrong by not sticking with your squad.
...but maybe that's beside the point. New player here so I'm probably just talking out my ass.

I'm sure there will be a easy respawn function that goes instantly as long you are not in treat for lets say 10 seconds. You don't wanna see players doing suicide with their last grenade, just because there isn't a proper respawn option, or forcing them to restart the game. I suppose we have to wait for the beta to make any conclusions and see what the makers come up with.

I'm fairly certain that at the LEASt there will be an option to recall to the foothold. They had that in PS1 and I think it was for that very reason, and squad regrouping.

Thanks Zebasiz for pointing that out

There's always the good old fashioned "fire a rocket/throw a grenade at your feet" approach.

if you were in such dire situation apart from the obvious find a high cliff and suicide option or drown yourself option, their will likely be a respawn option but it wont be instant click respawn more likely click and wait 20 secs to appear at foothold..any action would break the countdown...
Reason being its easy to bail from a craft then play hide and seek with the cat and last more than 10 secs (especially if your an infiltrator), its much harder to hide and time out whilst being hunted...

Remember, outposts/towers everywhere. Just go hack an outpost. Either someone comes kill you or you get your empire another hex + terminals. Also, in PS1 you could despawn at spawn tubes and re spawn elsewhere.
Also, agree with the recall possibility, plus since no sancs you won't leave the cont and be stuck in que.
