So PS2 is hands down at the top of my "most anticipated" list right now. So I'm trying my best as a complete newcomer to soak in as much info about the game and community as possible. But when it came to choosing an empire, I'm split right down the middle between the Terran Republic and the New Conglomerate (definitely not going Vanu I know that much).
I like them both equally for different reasons, so it's mostly gonna boil down to who's the most fun to play with. So can some vets inform me of some good outfits to check out and/or give me their best recruiting pitch?
It'll really all boil down to gameplay for the empire and who you're looking to play with. I ended up TR simply to play with the group of guys I normally play with who had ended up on TR.
As for outfits, I'm really not much for 'pitches' I'd much rather just drop this here:
http://www.planetside-universe.com/showthread.php?t=15399
And say scope out the outfit. It's a great group of guys who are organized but also like having some fun. If you have any questions, let me know and scope out the site, we're always welcoming new members and would love to have you join us on the TR!
I'll have to agree with the gameplay about it. I started TR way back when in PS1 but went NC due to borked game mechanics. (Still borked btw). But I was in 2 outfits (1 good that no longer exists, other terribad but still exists), before i settled in my current home. It's looking like we're staying NC but if we went TR I'd follow them.
Now if you want some generalizations about the zergfits on either empire, I'll have to say NC has a bunch of epeen swinging tards while TR has macro using racists. But again, broad generalizations that only apply to a few zergfits on either side. Those zergfits, being zergfits, hold quite alot of population so you now have a general idea of who you might be playing with.
My advice to you for outfits: look for a medium to small outfit.

Well the outfit looks very suited to my play style...although I'm strictly a civilian, no service history at all. But I would imagine you guys have more than a few of those.
I'll definitely take this into consideration.

Thanks for the advice, what outfit are you currently a part of?
...and forgive my ignorance but..."zergfit" ???

Our Recruiting Thread ^
Zergfit = Outfit that recruits and throws it's numbers around as its primary force where, usually, only basic tactics are utilized. As in stereotypical Zerg from Starcraft. (because a player actually playing as zerg can use tact).
You know...this is a thread about PS2.

Flip a coin, assign TR to heads and NC to tails, or fuck what i say and NC can be heads etc...As soon as you flip the coin you'll hear yourself say "c'mon heads" or "c'mon tails". There is your answer.
Also, i'd just ignore recruiting pitches when you're on the fence, they're obviously going to try to persuade you with BS...But im a cynic, so thats just me :).

Far be it from me to reintroduce the issue, especially when you've already chosen the best faction. However, you may want to give them all a shot at your earliest convenience. I only say that because I started as Vanu in PS1 and it took me a while to try out the other empires. Once I DID try the other guys (and actually read the lore), I stuck with NC.
As far as outfits, it's the same deal. It's hard to get tips for outfits because the people giving info on outfits will have different playstyles than your own. For instance, Blue Lions is one of the outfits in PS1 right now and, despite being sizable, one of their dudes got on to me for saying "damn" in the squad chat. Instant sign that it's not the outfit for me. Once you pick your faction, get to know some people in different outfits to get to know what kind of people the outfit is. That's the best way to do it, imo.
If all else fails and you have the mind to, you could always start your own outfit. :p

It depends on your style of play. If you are a slow heavy hitter go NC, if you are more of a speed player do TR and get a faster rate of fire, Or if you like a balance between the two, and no bullet drop play VS

PS1 was Vanu for the Magrider. I never liked the infantry combat really. Too much bunching at the door and waiting, hiding and repairing... the long TTK and restricted hallways meant that the first person to push in a door would die instantly and get no kills.
PS2 I'll be playing each faction and stick with whatever suits my play style the best. I dislike the TR lore the most, but their PS2 weapons may suit me best. Meh, we'll see.

I chose my faction by prettiest colors: NC The other factions have too much black in them, and we all know black is evil - especially black and red. That's of the devil. Then I found out those Barney's are the evilest of all.

I'd take a real gun over anything that goes "pew pew" any day.
Ridiculous sissy sound for ridiculous sissy guns.

In ps2 we are promised sissy guns that do more tickle. So fear the pew pew.
The irony is that I think the only gun in PS1 that went "pew pew" was the gauss...
Regardless, I'd rather shoot you with a magnetically accelerated ballistic projectile than a glorified tanning lamp.

No need to be on the fence. Play them both. I'm going to have at least 2 accounts for every faction. Never stay loyal and go with who wins!!! Chivalry will get you killed in war! F loyalty! LOL:D I only trust those that have my back!

I chose VS strictly for the look of the art. All it needs is more blade to be close to the ideal Dark Eldar.:D
Or you could be the Autobots of the NC, or go for the GI Joe look of TR.;)

I know that was my main reason for picking VS, my last clan was straight jacket society, wouldnt have it any other way, you cant kill crazy :) Theres something to be said for unconventional, its definitely never boring.

We have Wub Wub guns, Floating tanks, UFO interceptors, Lasers, a sleek design, were mostly neutral, and value progress.
What more could you ask from a sci fi shooter faction??
