I did a search but did not really see what i was looking for, sorry if i missed where this is answered.
Most of the terrain that has been shown in the demos was light scrub desert, what others have been shown or were in the original game? Any forests/jungles, swamps or others?
P.S. totally unrelated but does PS have any official forums, for research?

This is the official forum. There is also a wiki. It is highly likely that new continents will be added as time goes by. Terrain is themed per continent and many will have a favorite continent to play on.

We aren't the official forums, just a fansite. There will probably be official forums at some point during beta I'd suspect.

I believe forest/jungles and swamps will be in Esamir (or maybe Amaresh, I forget which is the icy one), but Indar should also have canyons and more open deserts, as well as slightly greener areas that probably have more plant life.

To expand on the main question: the "continent" we've seen the most of, Indar, is primarily desert in climate, but it has canyons, dunes, scrub-land, spars woods, and the like within it.
We've also seen a few images of the other two continents that will come out on launch (with more to follow later), including thick forests, grass plains, and ice-covered hills. I wouldn't be surprised to see wetlands and swamps make an eventual appearance, though not necessarily within the first 3 continents.
Unfortunately, due to design decisions, it will likely be some time before we see a true mountain, but I'm sure we'll have many large hills, canyons, and the like, as well as eventually rivers, lakes, and such. As I understand it, they (as of last month at least) hadn't finished with the texture/animation of water, which is probably why they've been showing off Indar as much, but they definitely will have bodies of water in the game, at the very least beaches and other coastline terrain.

Wow, you had me fooled. I hope they adopt this as their official forum :D
