Venturebeat.com has posted up an interview they conducted with SOE headman, John Smedley during E3! In the interview Smedley hints at Beta being "weeks away" as well as discussing their F2P business model, and their smart phone integration app!
GamesBeat: How close are you to launch?Smedley: We are weeks away from starting the beta. In terms of launch, that’s going to be determined by how the beta goes. We’ve got a ramp-up planned for the beta, we’re going to start small and ramp up very fast. And then we’ll just see how it goes. We’ve taken our time doing this right, and we want to make sure we do the beta right.
Check out the article here! And a big thanks to TheRagingGerbil for this great find!

Re: Smedley interview from E3 on VentureBeat To have people feeling as good as they are is what makes me feel the best. People are saying this is as good as Modern Warfare 3 or Battlefield 3 in terms of the feel of the shooter, which is what we’ve been going for. PC Gamer said that we looked better than Battlefield 3. It’s very gratifying to hear these things, because we worked so hard on it. We love it. We made the game for us. This i would like to point out this to people who are agains the modern mechanics feel and inspiration about this game Like i said multiple time this is the way they are going whith the feel and game mechanics and ITS FOR THE GOOD no matter whats some people think the modern shooter mechanics are great even if iam not a fan of cod at least i found BF3 feel pretty good i hate 3 d spotting etc.. but the game is still better than most games Anyway thats confirme agains whats they have said multiple times |

Re: Smedley interview from E3 on VentureBeat I expect beta to begin some time in July, that's all. remember everyone. Just because beta starts doesn't mean everyone is getting in when it starts. You might have to wait more weeks after it starts to get in. |

Re: Smedley interview from E3 on VentureBeat Higby said closed beta would be for like a month, so once it starts the longest anyone with priority access has to wait is like 2 - 3 weeks. |

Re: Smedley interview from E3 on VentureBeat I heard from that guy at E3, he said would start in a few weeks, for closed beta, so i translate that to 3 weeks, then he said open beta would start a after that, so i think open beta will start in roughly 6 weeks. |

Re: Smedley interview from E3 on VentureBeat I don't know ... there were those reports of a select few high-level FPS clans had been granted access to help test. At the time the forums exploded and all the PS1 vets were chomping at the bit. A week or so later and the forums went strangely silent. It has me wondering what all those rabid PS1 vets are doing that has quelled their fervent posting habits? |
