Twice, and also Binion's and the Four Queens, to round out that little stretch. But not for a decade, so if they've remodeled the room interiors and took care of the pest problem in my absence, I humbly apologize.

With all due respect, that guy obviously isn't paying attention to all the time and effort and $$ put into PS2.

EQ may be their flagship, but their inability to embrace enjoyable PVP made EQ2 a flop long term. There's no room in the market for another MMORPG, especially when SOE takes such pride in its family friendly games design approach in EQ, when evidence is that gamers are pulling in the other direction.

It also will have to compete with TESO.
More like the FPS market will have to adapt to Planetside 2, since once players get a taste of massive RvR pvp, they don't go back to rinky **** matches (wait, d.i.n.k is a forbidden word?) It's always been this way. There are gateway pvp games. Then they get a taste of mass pvp RvR and never look back.

I agree though that TESO is a RvR competitor much like GW2 is. But we'll see if it's a full-on competitor since I've read maps/regions will be instanced.

It's a whole new Nugget. They remodeled it like crazy. The Carson Tower (the budget rooms) rivals any Strip hotel's standard room.

Huh! Did that all happen when they put in the funky sky LCD thing over Fremont?

I think I'm going to wind up going to this, at least for a day or two. I'm in town anyway for work; I think I can manage a little me time.

Frankly, I'd also be perfectly content just meeting up at a bar or something and getting knockered. We could all bring laptops and troll PSU. Time to roll out that alt, Hamma!

If your feelings are always that off, then you should absolutly kiss the girl you hate the most.

Voices are something that is apperently coming. Faces? Nobody gives a crap about faces. Nobody gave a crap about faces in PS1.

Ignoring the blabla of EQ, random bollox really.

But here comes the real gem. IT HAS TO COMPETE WITH THE ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE? BAHAHAHAHAHA

TES O is already dead. It died the moment it got announced. The entire TES community said no to that game right away, given that it completly removes everything that makes TES TES, just for the sake of having a MMO in the universe. But the TES community doesnt give a crap about the IP, they care about the freedom. Obviously TES O wont have mod support, and a lot of the exploration, crafting and questing freedom of the SP TES games will go to crap.

TES O will be the biggest flop in history, mark my words. No amount of advertising can compensate if you kick your core audience in the nuts.
Wtf, how can you judge a game so harshly when it hasn't even reached beta and there's only ONE game-play video out. From what I've read they are trying to make it look and feel like a traditional ES game with first person view, huge crafting emphasis etc. The only thing I know that is absent is pick-pocketing because obviously that wouldn't work in an online space. Same goes for modding.

Just wait until we know more information and it hits beta wiht NDA lifted

If they did this then they would lose the big attraction of Vegas, which is that its got more places to eat and entertainment in a short walk then any other city I've been to or heard of.

To me Vegas is a pleasure city, at least the strip section, dropping SOE live into another city would be fine for people who just wanted to turn up for the event, but anyone who had to travel a significant distance could not justify it otherwise just for three days.

Cost wise I've found Vegas to be really cheap for accomodation, north tower at Bally's (the luxury one) typically costs 89-119 dollars a night and gives a good quality room. I've not found anything comparable in any other city in Europe, and the one time I stayed in NY the prices even for mid town were way higher, you'd be lucky to get a pokey small room somewhere for that price in a lesser known city.

EQ1 had its large major money poured into it a decade ago when they upgraded the graphics engine, EQ2 has been going 7 years with only abortive work done (by one person - who was shifted to PS2) on its graphics. Other then that the development has been really just for short term things.

So put in that context the time and money poured into PS2 was substantial, despite being in beta it was the star of the show last year at SOE live.

As a EQ2 player myself I should feel more entitled to feel a bit raw about the resources poured into PS2 (which came from EQ1 and EQ2 and a bit of PS1), but I'm pragmatic I guess as they have to make the biggest bang for the buck.

EQ2 was never designed for PVP true, but looking at WoW where it was there from day one the majority (guessing 70%) of players chose to play on a server that was PVE. I believe MMO's should have lots of gameplay styles supported in their worlds though (tradeskilling, PVE, dungeon running etc) so it would have helped.

As for EQNext its almost certain to not be anything like EQ1 or EQ2, I got to speak to David Georgeson at last years SOE Live about MMO's. He didn't give away any real secrets for EQNext but his enthusiasm is infectious and I can confirm he's just the same face to face as when on camera (I definitely recommend cornering him if you can at any SOE Live ). When I mentioned about the past few MMO's (KOTOR, Rift, etc) bombing because people had basically already played the same game so became bored of it fast he was definitely on the same page!

I really don't know what he has going for EQNext, something sandboxy is what Smedley has hinted, but they also know that releasing something close to EQ1 and EQ2 will just canabilise players there, and run into the same problems that the current crop of "Me too" MMO's has run into.
