SOEmote could come to PlanetSide 2 Bookmark and Share

Yesterday in an interview with MMORPG.com Dave Georgeson, Director of Development on the Everquest team (And former Producer of PlanetSide) said that SOEmote could some day make it's way into PlanetSide 2:

I asked him if they believed SOEmote might make its way into other games and he merely nodded and said, “That’s been the plan all along. EQ2 first, and then everything.” He went on to state how cool it will be to have squad commanders dishing out intel and orders in Planetside 2, and even told me that it’s already being built into EQ Next as well.

The Editor notes that these are thing that SOEmote "Can" be used for but aren't necessarily in the planning stages at this time. Check out the full article here and discuss it on the forums! Special thanks to Saieno for the news tip.

Yeah, really. Vehicle enter/exit animations and stuff like TrackIR should have priority over stuff like this.

No thanks, I'm gonna buy the biggest, gayest , most discoriffic vanu helmet there is , zebra stripe it and then never take it off.

Also, hot pink lashers.

It makes your character move it's head when you move yours... it's not difficult to make it do the same thing TrackIR does.

Some people just like to find reasons to complain.

Wait a minute.....So can this be used to not get shot in the game?....Like if I move my head to the right, is it possible to not get headshot or something lol.

Also how will this work with helmets?....Seems like you won't see much facial animation because of the helmets.

Yup and they ignore the fact that it isn't PS2 devs that will are spending time on this! The technology is being implemented by another team.

When it is put into the forge light engine it will be available for all games made from forge light.

When it is put into forge light it will most likely be an option to turn it on or off so even if you have a complaint about the extra .01% bandwidth or CPU increase you don't have to actually enable it on your end.

But they'd rather complain and make baseless extrapolations that just aren't true.

Customization I'd imagine. If this was in the game we might see open masked MAX suits and other armor with clear helmets or open faces so players can see things. Really though it would probably be a completely optional thing for players to turn on or off.

Even with a helmet on your head would move so that would be cool. Like nodding yes or no at the very least.

I can't help but imagine people making derpy facial expressions. Those EQ example screens of SOEmote look ridiculous. I haven't laughed this hard for a long time.

Wasn't he the one that the forums raged against when he spoke out against the 3pv toggle as being decidedly un-FPS?

If the network impact and dev times are negligible, and they can make it look good, I'll go as far as saying I don't care. Anything less and they're making a big mistake. Or, better:
