I was waiting for someone to bring up the BF3 theme and Clubroot.
I think one of the biggest points that anyone observing this thread can take away is that EA takes game music seriously, and gamers notice that.
That said, I am of the school that the PS1's music is nice and very good. However, what with each empire being more unique this time 'round, it only makes sense that the music is also much more distinct.
But in reality, I expect there to be some amount of music included with it, but you will probably be able to include your own stuff into the playlist
a la EVE Online style.
EDIT: Also, for some reason, this feels to me like it's more appropriate for some sort of space-themed porn film than PS2:
