The LA class has jet packs for doing tricky manoeuvres, all others just have to trust the laws of gravity and fall down.
However if you are Hotdropping from the Galaxy aerial transport you take no fall damage no matter what height you jump from (a fringe benefit).
They used to have gravchutes with effects in PS1 when you bailed from aircraft in PS1.
They need to add the effects in this game too.
As for stand alone parachutes you can just deploy when jumping off buildings, no that mess belongs in BF and not PS imho.
