Though I have yet to play yet (Hopefully waiting on a key), but I read somewhere that the physics are run off either PhysX if you have an Nvidia card or the CPU if you run ATI/AMD.
Also, good tip IRSAudit, if I have issues I will definitely have to try that out and I also hope that OP finds a resolution.
