Re: Weird Planetside launch problem

I have been running planetside again recently. I have found that it has some hickups. I just chauked it up to the unusual resolution I am running.

First, the game crashes randomly. When it does crash to desktop the process keeps running and hijacks my mouse. I have to alt ctl del and use the keyboard to end task. The game also uses over a gig - 2 gig of ram which I found unusual for the age of the game.

Second, when launching the game sometimes it says launching and then nothing happens. I have no idea why.

Third, sometimes after I exit the task keeps running and or I get a crash message.

Finally, with fraps I get three strikes. I can only run it three times before it crashes and burns. See First for what happens next.

I like to say I am fairly fluint in computers. I have built all of my own computers for over ten years. The first one I built I was in high school. My current setup is a quad core 3.5ghz AMD3 system. The thing has 8 gb of DDR3 and duel geforce 460s with 2gb each for a total of 4gb of graphics ram. I run planetside at 5760X1080 on three 27inch monitors via HDMI. Windows is version 7 home premium 64bit.

Grim, I would try starting the task manager via alt ctl del and selecting planetside which should still be running. Then select end process tree. Then try running again from there.
