Is the NC MAX ever going to get a ranged weapon?

Every time I get a MAX as NC it always ends up as AA duty because of the shotgun. That thing is a BEAST, but only if you're able to time it right and get most of the shot to land on target. If you're more than 20m out the spread is just shit and I have to use mag after mag to kill anything. The mortar is fine as is but that shotgun just kills me.
Are we going to have a side choice in MAX weapons after release? Hell, even just having slugs would make the shotgun much better in my opinion.
