3rd person, let's just bury this.

I played Planetside 2 extensively at SOE and as a veteran, and as an FPS maniac, it is so much better without it. I do not miss it at all. I knew this would be a good move, but now it is confirmed in my book.

I thought this was buried a long time ago.

What's it doing up and walking around again?

There doesn't seem to be enough indoor combat from what we've seen for it to be terribly necessary. Even if it was in I doubt it'd change much.

While I loved third person with infantry combat in PS1, I do think it should go away in PS2. However, I still ground vehicles should be able to go into third person in PS2 so that they get get an idea of their surroundings an don't get stuck on shit.

Higby's argument of vehicles "camping" or whatever it was with the inclusion of third person is bogus. There was third person in PS1 and vehicles didn't hide behind buildings waiting to pop out...And even if they did, who gives a shit?

Give ground vehicles third person

i'd still like some sort of self view or pose mode ..../flex.....

Although i'm more than happy for 3rd person to be gone from combat

What about vehicles? I would have to disagree if you can't go in third person in a vehicle...

I'm glad you brought this up. It was a completely stone dead topic, but we had forgotten about it and it was just sitting out in the yard attracting flies. Let's not just bury the topic, let's have a funeral service and carve a head stone for it.

The epithet can be: "Third person on Infantry... What was that all about?"

There will be still (free to look around/no crosshair) third person camera view in vehicles correct?

I wonder how many people are going to fork over real money in order to buy cosmetic character customizations that can only be seen on your respawn loadout screen.

I never used 3rd person in PS1 to see around corners etc, I only used it to admire my armor (cause I'm vain like that).

But really, cosmetics and XP boosting are probably going to be the two main ways this game makes money. And I'll probably be spending all my money on XP boosts (as vain as I am... If I buy cosmetic upgrades it's more for me to see, not so much for others to see. But there's little motivation to do that in PS2 from my perspective)

It's like a woman getting a boob job. She can't see what she looks like with big tits most of the time, but she can check how she looks in the mirror before going out.

You'll be able to see what you look like on the character select screen, then know that you are showing it off the rest of the time.

It's worked fine in TF2 and other games that have cosmetic items but no 3rd person.
