Lets be honest, no one could care less what kind of helmet or armor you wear. Possibly some camo can be useful and give you some edge but all other cosmetic addons are almost invisible. Basically you are paying to see some minor changes in you class selection screen.
At least in PS1 your look meant something, just saying...

quite true

i miss the berret - command ranks mean nothing in this game atm and thats where alot of the issues outfits have stem from cause any kind of co-ordination between outfits (not in an alliance) ends up being a shit storm in leader chat or orders which is rediculous bring back cep and not some crap anyone who haas 100 certs can join.
