Camelot Unchained - Creator of DAoC / Warhammer Online

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...elot-unchained
http://camelotunchained.com/en/ (in progress)

Kickstarter went up today, a rather hefty goal of $2,000,000. I think it'll get there though, a lot of people want another Dark Ages of Camelot or Warhammer Online. The developer, Mark Jacobs, has been very straight forward and honest with his blog posts around what he wants in the game. They appear to want to take into account what the community wants and seems more than willing to make the game players want rather than the game big companies want. He's another one of the guys who left EA, after selling his soul to EA. He has been doing a lot of community interaction to decide what features the game should have and what the rewards for pledging should be.

If you have never played DAoC, or WAR, I'd say you missed out on two great games(even though WAR had the typical EA issues). DAoC was, IMHO, the best PvP fantasy style MMO ever made. It's one of the few games to succeed in creating three distinctly separate factions and have them fairly balanced for PvP.

Yea alot of people give Mark Jacobs alot of shit for WAR, despite EA and its flaws, its still the best PvP game iv played since PS1, to date. I backed it.

DAoC was an amazing game, just below EverQuest for me. It was my favorite PvP game in a fantasy setting. I would definitely want to play another game like it. I'll be backing this as well.

I always felt that DAoC was the only PvP game to get the hotkey target system right. In WAR it was a little too easy to tab-target, though similar to DAoC it was still more efficient to target using the mouse.
Hopefully they get it right again, I always felt like the hotkey systems allowed for more strategic team oriented game play compared to the first person combat games.

Yea im hoping this game uses more traditional targeting and combat system, so many games go for this "action" skill based gameplay, few pull it off so its smooth and play well, most of the time its just a button spam.

Interesting that the game is going to be able to support 500 players in a battle. More than large enough for siege combat in the target based system. He also ran it with 1000 players, granted no effects or anything, but it was nice to see it's possible. Still $1 million to go.

Building/Housing update.
Minecraft-esque style building system. Farther from safe zones = better materials. Almost any kind of structure seems viable, only restriction is on height.

Game has some badass ideas, I hope it gets funded.

I've been pushing it everywhere I can. I almost wish he would of waited 6 months to do a kickstarter. The interest is there for it, he just doesn't have enough specifics for people to want to throw money at it.

Yea very true, not alot of media is picking it up like they did with star citizen because theres nothing flashy to show off. is a shame...its done 100k already tday though which is amazing. I think it can make it aslong as this rate continues.

Wow. I didn't think was going to go through. No donation on my part, but I'm defiantly going to keep tabs on the game. Looks like it has a lot of potential.

Holy crap, it made the needed donations? I really didn't think it would make it either when I checked it back when this thread was started. Nice! I'm really looking forward to this as well. Loved DAoC.
