Honestly don't know exactly where media that is just celebrating PS goes, here are some short background videos I've made for future plans. Critique and enjoy! Each video is 11 seconds, very simple stuff here

I created the models with autodesk maya, then imported the images into adobe after effects. I actually have them fully skinned, left that out for a more unified background color scheme.

Hopefully I will be able to use the models plus skins for stuff that will be created when beta hits.

I've only briefly used 3DS Max, but from what I can tell the only major differences are the interfaces, which are very, very different. They are likely more different than just that though or Autodesk wouldn't keep publishing them both. I think I remember hearing that 3DS Max has better modelling tools and Maya has better animation tools.

Very cool stuff, Notser. It would be awesome to add animations like these to a PS2 gameplay reel that would break up action seen from each empire's perspective. Can't wait until we get the go-ahead to start advertising PS2 with beta footage!

Perhaps AGN could use them for when people of different Factions are speaking? Their name with this looping in the background? Just an idea.

Also addressing the question about Maya vs Max, I've seen that Maya leans toward Entertainment while Max leans toward Engineering. Doesn't mean that either can't be used for the other, but generally going from polygon to movie is easier with the vanilla install of Maya. Both have millions of plugins that fill any weaknesses they may have, so personal preference is the deciding factor in many cases. My college taught with Maya, whatever you learned on is generally what people stick to out of comfort.

Also interested in iterating on a product, here are some more videos with a couple changes. Tell me what you guys think about the changes, please don't hold back any critiques. Also, I was looking into getting a screensaver file to you guys who would like that but it seems to be a little annoying right now. Still looking for a easy solution for everyone rather than asking you guys to make your own. Was trying for a simple install file for the screensavers. Please post a good program for making scr if you know of one.
