Since I just got a new Vid Card, I am in the market for a new processor and motherboard to complement my system. Since my current only supports the PC133 RAM I feel it's time to step up with the hardware. Could anyone give me some ideas for upgrading to and just your overall opinions!

Maybe my sig will work this time!

Well, what is your budget?

Best way to go for around $300

Epox 8rda with an XP 2100+ processor (http://www.bzboyz.com/store/product1843.html) = $168.47

GeIL DDR PC 2700 512MB stick (http://www.buyxtremegear.com/geil2700512u.html) = $66.00 x 2 = $132

You kinda need to give us a ballpark figure on the amount your going to be spending and which chipset, AMD or Intel you want to go for?

I would say a Intel P4 3.2 with an Soyo SY-P4I875P DRAGON 2 Platinum Edition mb and 2 gigs of corsair pc3500. In a Koolance case, with 2 WD Raptors and a WD 250 gig SE.

Was price a concern?

Ah yes, sorry I didn't mention it before, I want to keep this around 200 dollars, a bit over is fine, but that is my ball park. I might keep my Athlon 1700 XP and stick it in a new Mobo. I was looking into the Asus AV8NX Deluxe (I think that is the model). My next big question right now is what company to purchase ram from!

If you want to stay under $200, defintely keep your XP1700. Do you know if it is a Palamino or Tbred core? Or what the stepping is? It may be a decent oc'er.

Newegg has some refurb'd A7N8X Deluxe's for $69 I think. They are usually good about testing and refurb'd stuff. If you got this, I would shoot for 1 gig of pc2700 DDR. You can generally find Kingston for about $65 per 512. Do you have any DDR ram already?

More ppl should :)

Both the Epox 8rda and the 2100+ are great values for their money. Asus makes good mobo's, but don't offer all the overclocking capabilities of the Epox boards. The 2100 Thoroughbred core is an OC'ers dream, easily getting into the 2.2Ghz ranges with standardized cooling.

That Epox does look good, I might see about getting one of those, anyways, I do not have any DDR Ram yet, I think I am gonna use the coupon that came with PS to get that Hyper X Kingston!
