I have a 2.7 ghz intel, Nvidia 5200 FX Ultra w/128 mb ddr, 512 mb ddr 2100, SB live XGamer, and a fresh new install of win XP pro install on my comp so i dont have any crap bogging down my system. yet, during play of the game, my fps drop to an almost unpayable low. during just normal battles, ill be getting 3-7fps. is this the work of that darn memory leak issue, or is it something else? the tech people dont know what the heck is wrong, so please, help me.

what settings are you playing it on?from what i hear the 5200 isnt exactly the best for planetside.

Welcome to Planetside. I've got a 9700 pro, and when I log on I get like 10 fps, but it warms its' way up to about 140. So maybe you should wait around a bit and see if it gets better, that's probably your only hope cause their graphics patches do much more harm than good.

Indeed. Crono has a slightly worse computer than Knoll(Knoll has 1 gig of RAM, a slightly faster CPU, smae vid card) and Crono gets far better FPS than Knoll. Makes no sense.

in answers to your guy's questions, im running on cable, no router or firewall. and im running it on the recommended settings, and have even tried dumbing them down, but still, outside, i get low fps. there are times, mostly in buildings, where ill get up to 170 fps, but once i hit outside, ill start getting 40-50...then when an even slight battle starts, ill get below 10.

preloaded textures help FPS if you have a good amount of RAM

ACK! NO!

that videocard is complete shite, it's basically performs at or below the level of a ti4200, it's just that now it has the directx 9 feature set supported and such

a 9500 Pro would do the trick, a 5600 or 5600 Ultra would work too, but believe me, you can go look it up, the 5200 is NOT the card to get if you're looking at having a nice performing card for the directx 9 era

anybody else with a good comp having problems playing the game with this card too?

i'm not trying to be an ATI fanboy or anything, but you have to believe me, that card does support the dx9 feature set, but it just doesn't have the power to render it

yeah, ive been hearing the same thing doodz, dont know who it was that told me that this card was good, and im sure it pretty good at other games, just nothing as intense as planetside. any suggestions on a card that will give me good FPS on the game and wont tear up my wallet? give me some testamonials if you got em, meaning, you have the card and know what youre talking about.

well, i consider myself fairly knowledgeable in the subject of video cards, and in my opinion, the best bang for buck available is a 9500 Pro over at newegg, i think you can get em for less than a hundred

you might be able to find a 9700 Pro for a good price over there too

i have a friend who has a 9500 non pro and he's loving it, cranking the image quality on America's Army and BF, it looks absolutely fabulous

i myself own a 9800 Pro, the absolute best you can buy for gaming right now, though it comes in at a heavy price, mine was 350.

just don't get any 9800 SE cards, they're evil.
