well its not really my comp its the fan on my CPU... it will randomly slow way down at times then speed back up. the slow down is never for longer than a coupl of seconds. and its very very random... So I was thinknig powersupply, power connectors, or something similar but the rest of my computer runs perfectly fine. sigh i dont know.. maybe its racoons...

how long have you had that cpu fan?

A good fan will run ya about $35.00. Just go get a new one and see if it works.

Is your fan connected to your board or to a +12v connector straight from the PowerSupply?

35 dollars? no, more like 12, a good HSF might run you 35 dollars though

i know the Alpha PL8045 will run you about 54, but it's also the best you can buy

well I've had it since x-mas. as far as i can tell its connected to the PS. (its one of those adjustable fans via a mounted knob)

so it's manually adjustable? it doesn't adjust automatically?

well as far as i know its not an automatic one.... and beside this is way too random to be automatic....

yeah, sometimes those automatic ones don't work properly

my guess is it was slightly defective when shipped and use has worsened and made apparent the defect

or there's not enough power going to it for whatever reason

i would suggest switch the cable that runs from your motherboard to your power supply. it may be a faulty cable. if it isnt, get another heatsink. they're pretty cheap. make sure you buy the right one. do you have an amd or intel?
