View Full Version : How is my computer running PS?

Pentium III 733 MHZ
512 MB of uhh RAM (the crappy kind)
Geforce 4 (something, pretty good)
Sound Blaster Live! from 1999

It doesn't run PS well, but it runs. I usually get like 10-20 FPS. I think it is because of my crappy processor, but then again, I'm no computer wiz. Ive updated the RAM and the Videocard, and while they help, it still runs like crap.

Will upgrading my sound card help at all?

I know I need a new computer, so don't tell me that :P.

well if you have a good soundcard the prossecor has to do less work on the sounds but i think you have a good one

Your processor is kinda killing ur performance more than likely, that would be my first upgrade. Its not that much more expensive than buying a new soundcard either, processors are cheap now.

Jesus. Your processor is 277 mhz BELOW minimum spec for the game. I'm amazed it doesn't tank immediately.

You'll need a new machine altogether, but not just for PS. If you plan on playing any upcoming games, it is SO update time it hurts.

you need a slightly better proccessor and more ram.

If your motherboard only goes up to 512mb then get the new intel 875pbz board.
Youll have to get atleast a P4 3.0 i think but its only 152$(the board) at googlewares.com and good for future upgrading. Get a good Gig stick of ram(single) and put your old cards in.

Should run you about 800-1000$ but you can then upgrade up to 4 gigs. And the board itself is 800mhz. 3 times faster than your proccessor alone.

The problem with that is I have no idea how to put a new motherboard or processor in.

Is there some site or something that tells me how to do this?

You have a Dell, don't you.
