For the price and performence, these seem to be great contenders in the budget CPU market :)

What kind of names are

Celeron
Pentium
Athlon
or Crusoe

To put it bluntly, they all sounded wierd when they first came out, but they're just another word.

good point they do allsound goofy. Lets get real words as names, like

POS(cel)
Faster than POS(pent)
red-headed Stepchild(athlon)

and crusoe was a person so no change

I don't know, I always thought Pentium, Xeon, Athlon, and Clawhammer were great names. Sempron is like a cross between Simpleton and Pr0n. So I guess its aimed at the morons who just use the net to surf for porn lol.

But the performance is defintely rather nice. The new celerys aren't that bad either. We'll have to see which is a better OC'er. But really, what XP mobile's out there so cheap and insane OC'ers along with Prescott's getting cheaper everyday the under $100 cpu market is a real bear.

Nice performance for the price, blows those POS celerons out of the water... what a wast eof silicon, WORST CHIPS EVER. Though AMD claims they weren't made to compete with them, thats just pure BS.

Name wise, its a bit goofy. I've always been a bigger fan of the code names and core names than the actual processor names.

Clawhammer, Sledgehammer, Newcastle, Northwood, Tejas, they sound much more bad ass.
