As some of you know, I've been building a computer over the past 2 months. Ive been shopping and buying up until now, and Im getting the last peice, soon.

Alright. I've got a "shopping list" of sorts for games, hence my building my own custom rig. However, with the sudden realization that Pricewatch.com is full of fucking shit (the reason I got a 9600 pro instead of a 9800, my mistake, not the shops') the rig I had evisioned is now a bit lower-ended.

I upgraded so I wouldn't vid-lag, and so pretty games could be pretty, instead of butt-friggin ugly like Im accustomed to.

So really, will this system....

Athlon XP 64 2800+ CPU
Mobo w/AGP8x
1GB PC2100 DDR RAM
RADEON 9600 PRO

...Be able to run the following in extreme prettiness, with good framerates?

Half-Life 2
Call of Duty
Deus Ex: Invisible war
KOTOR
UT2K4

...Since I can't really find any benchmarks for a lot of those games on my specific system, I'd figure I'd ask people who have played those games on similar rigs.

My rig:
P4 3.02GHz
GeF5200x
1GB Generic RAM

Runs CoD on high settings, and HL2 on pretty high settings (but on 800x600 :( ) so that should be able to handle them, yes.

I got a 9600 PRO 256, I'm pretty happy with it. Its a nice card, though it is kinda old. I will be upgrading to a X800XT after Christmas (hopefully) but this card is definetely nice. You won't be able to run on highest settings, but I run HL2 on 1280X1024 and I get decent FPS. The load times are about 2 minutes, but it's pretty good besides that.

It won't be extreme preatyness, but it could be quite nice. IF you want uber preaty, you may want to get some Pc3200 in it, and a next gen GFX card, like the 6600gt($200, and it outperforms the 9800pro in quite a bit of stuff)

Woah woah woah. Does my card not support DX9 then? :/ I'm not arguing, it's just that every new game I've bought has installed DX9.b and now 9.c and not told me that it's pointless having them or anything... :(

There is a difference between using Dx9 and needing it to run.

When i say useing DX9 i mean with shaders 2.0, and the FX cards do not support that.

However yours does MR. Paul, but it is the least powerfull of the Dx9 cards. you may have to skimp a bit and not go above 1024x768 and not use AF/AF.

Also as far as 9b/c shader 3.0 is beautifull and can do more stuff a bit faster but HL2 doesn't use it, however farcry does

Ohh, thanks :). I think I'll be getting a reasonably priced upgrade with the money I get for Xmas.

oh wait sorry i got confused, the card i was refferning to above was Spee's card.

Your card is acctualy the worst card of the last generation, no offence, it doesn't support DX9 shaders(2 or 3)

You need to throw a 6600gt, or 9800pro in there($200), perhaps a 9600xt/pro if money is tight

i think you need a 6800, but just a plain 6800, pretty cheap now ($400 CAD), and a pretty decent card, IMO

*hardcore ATI fanboy*

And I THOUGHT I was ordering a 9800 pro, but through my own ast oversight, and pricewatch.com's faggotry, I got a 9600 pro.

I would not blame "Pricewatch.com's" faggotry.

You have time before submitting the pay button to look over your order.

You make the decision even after submitting it of cancelling the order.

YOU are to blame for your screw up, not "pricewatch.com's" faggotry.
