Im sure if he wanted to die, it was being attacked by a wild animal.

imdb.com already got his death on record

they said the barbs on those stingrays are the length and width of a drumstick. that's about 14 inches of barb

yeah, those barbs can go though the hulls of wooden boats.

Supposedly it went right in his heart, died instantly.

1. You dont die instantly from trauma to the heart. It takes a while.

2. He most definatly did not die fast. The helicopter was on the way and he died while it was enrout. I doubt they would have even bothered if he died "instantly"

Well his friend that was there when he died said that the tail went right though his heart(so he mostly likey died instantly) I mean I guess one of his best friends that was there would know better then any of us

I doubt he would die isntantly... it takes several minutes to die of a punctured heart. Just like when you sever an artery... takes 2 to 4 minutes... depending on the size of the wound... he may have fallen unconscious from the pain thought... it's unlikely since the brain produces a bunch of hormones...

Didn't know we had so many doctor's posting on PSU :p

Regardless, the poor guy died quicker than he should have. Not a way I would be interested in dieing but it was what he loved.

I watched the interview with his best friend tonight on CNN. It was pretty rough.

my anatomy teacher said that he probably would have survived under water for quite sometime because the water pressure would prevent the blood from EXPLODING out from his heart. But as soon as his heart couldnt take it, he would go unconcious, followed by death.

I imagine how long he would've lasted probably relys, in no small part, in how much trauma the heart suffered.

Apparently he was still conscious enough to have taken out the spear that pierced his heart, by himself...

Apparently his death was filmed but the tape was confiscated by Queensland police as evidence that his death was somehow accidental.

The thing is, it's damn rare for a stingray to kill someone...

Damn shame he had to go this way, I hoped to see him still being around until he'd be as old as Attenborough... he definitely died before his time, the only consolation is he was K.I.A. and probably wouldn't have it any other way...

R.I.P. Steve Irvin... y00 pwnz00rd!

Crikey!

I always thought Steve would live to the ripe age of 150 teaching his children, and their children how to wrestle a croc. I guess not, may he rest in peace. The man deserved to die in a blaze of glory, that stab wound was probably some ninja dart or something..

Nice one OMA....I roflled IRL. :P

Sucks he died, I thought he would have lived longer though.

Pussy Stingrays always take the fun out of everything.
