I recently had the urge to play an online multiplayer dogfighting game. The funny thing was I could not think of a single game in this genre. It can be WW2, modern day, space combat or other. It has to be at least a decent well made game.

What are some games like this?

Freespace 2 was my favorite of all time. And it's free now, seeing as how source code has been released. However I don't think it has a very big multiplayer community (not last I checked, 3 years ago).

Now that you remind me thats another thing thats important to me. There has to be enough of a community that I can actualy find a game to play in.

Warbirds made the claim that it was MMO so I signed up for the two week trial and am downloading it. I might try out aces high as well. Thanks.

Edit: Upon further investigation it looks like neither of them are MMOs. Warbirds wanted my credit info when I signed up for the trial and Aces High did not. Aces High also has much much more active forms then Warbirds. Aces High wins.

I've been looking for something similar. Checking out Aces High right now.

Ace's High was ok.

World War II Online was a pretty good one, awesome dogfights, along with tons of infantry/naval/tank engagements to go along with. Still has a good sized community I think. Though it does cost like 11$/month.

And ah......Air Warriors....My dad had me addicted to that when I was a kid, it was my first online game. My dad left that for WWIIOL.

I played Aces High and decided the learning curve was way too high...

Anyone know of a more pick up and play game?

crimson skies or a myriad of other newer flying games. but they're not going to be MMO. they may have multiplayer though.

World War II online = Best Air Combat IMO. Non-free MMO. Plus if you get pissed off in the air, hop into a tank.

I havnt enjoyed a good Multiplayer Flight sim since Combat Flight Simulator 2. I was the leader for the 3rd best ranked squadron in that game for 3 months. Then someone figured out how to hack it and microsoft couldnt stop them.

Aces High is what you're looking for. I played it for 6 months. Sure, the learning curve is high, but it's well worth it. The game is AWESOME.

Don't judge a book by it's cover

Space Cowboy

Not a great name, ok graphics, anime themed. But holy shit once you get PvPing it's awesome. One awesome thing is your music with the in game mp3 player. It's definetly worth a try.

Edit: Not an in depth MMO like WoW but all the reviews agree it's good to turn on once and a while.

Quick question, Aces High doesn't work for me. It wont start the game, it will always get a black screen and quit. I've tried following their directions to fix it but it still doesn't work. Anyone else have this problem?

And Aces High is probably one of the best flight sims i've played ever. The learning curve is high, just fuck around and use the Zero, after a few flights you should hone in a few kills. I'd rather pay their fee to play rather than Wow or some sort.
