I thin the answer is Yes. At least I have always assumed so.
Why would we have both Ishundar and Indar?

Didn't they say back at Fanfaire that they were different?

Ishundar is not Indar.
Indar is a new continent, clearly with new base names. But there may not be an Ishundar at release.
The 3 continents we know about so far are Indar, Amerish and Esamir. And the way the PC Gamer article describes Amerish and Esamir, they are still the same climate (greenish and snowish), but seem to be rather different in terrain.

Searhus is mentioned in the back story, it will also most likely show up as a playable cont.

4 continents sounds like a good starting number. SOE can cover each terrain climate nicely: temperate, arctic, desert, volcanic. At a 1998 player cap for each continent, I don't think we'll run out of room too soon.

I just thought, with weather and that what will visibility be like if we get blizzards on Esamir?

Hopefully whiteout if its raging hard enough. If you been in one you know what I mean.

Haha, yeah. I can imagine the chat.

"The base is err....that way."
"you sure?"
"yes"
20 minutes later after the snow has cleared you find yourself at the ocean kilometres away from the nearest base. :lol:

This sounds like an amazing way to implement in radar - to make it actually be used as the player's eyes since they cannot see two feet in front of them! Or just jump on a Tantan, I think they know their way around frozen wastelands.

I refuse to play Planetside if they are going to rename Ishundar.

No dude it's a new continent.

I remember them saying some time ago that they were working on Searhus. What's become of that, I have no idea. With how long it's been, I'm kinda surprised we haven't seen screen shots of anything other than Indar.

That would be kind of awesome, for navigation to actually come into play like that.

Problem is, we all have a map that we can bring up at any time.

I wonder...maybe it wouldn't be a terrible idea to remove that? Maybe only let commanders be able to pull up some kind of real time, highly detailed map and let people who aren't certified work with their compass?

Why would they have two continents that are both barren wastelands and one of them takes the name of the other but removes "shu" from the name?

Brother Warborn and I have a nice little debate going on about weather in the ideas section already, as someone has brought the blizzard/harsh weather/reduced visibility topic up already.

I encourage folks to join in the discussion!

I'm guessing Searhus is already completed and just need more interior building/playtests.

And I really hope Cyssor will be in at launch!!

Yay for Cyssorside. Hopefully, Faro and Gunuku will be making a return. I enjoyed fighting between the two.

Ceryshen is irrefutably the best continent atmosphere-wise. Sparse trees with thick upper layer = infantry battles in cover from aircraft, rocky terrain = cover from vehicles, canyon fights in the shadows of the mountains, mountain-top fights, that ultimate bridge, and loling at people trying to attack a shielded Anguta when invading from the north.

I am really interested for more details on the continents though. Wonder which (if any) are getting cut and how much they're going to changing in terms of climate, terrain and physical shape.

They might make Ish more urban. They might do many things.

...Because Cyssor was my cup of tea =)

And I think SOE briefly mentioned it at the 2011 Fan-Faire

Indar looks like a hybrid of Ishundar and Solsar.

Hossin=Hoss
Ceryshen=Chernobyl
Cyssor=NoRunWith
Oshur=OshKosh

There are all sorts of new names they could use.
