Nice. backpack and pouches look much much better than the early screenshots we saw of the TR medic. http://pcmedia.ign.com/pc/image/article/118/1188855/planetside-2-20110818092358096_640w.jpg

If you hit that backpack from a side, does it mean hit and possible kill? It makes them too big targets.

Looks almost cute with his bright little med packs. As to whether you will want to shoot him first I dunno. Low TTK and him probably not having a magical ranged healing gun that can out heal your bullets makes him a secondary target.

But I guess we will see how it ends up. They might have given him some other nasty abilities.

Yeah. Higby said they just spawned the gun and didn't realize it wasn't a TR weapon.

Reeeeeally hoping the PS2 Medic class is hardly like the TF2 medic at all...

Rezzing and HoT's that are inturrupted if the target takes damage, ftw.

I agree also, love the black packs. Though I understand the reasoning behind the white medpacks, being more recognizable and all. But I'd still rather have the earlier version.

Either way looking damn good!

I suspect that a red cross on a medic is to a gamer like a silent, isolated child is to a John Wayne Gacy or Jeffrey Dahmer.

I think that killing medics should put you minus 100 kills and a million points in your stats.

As a reward for cowardice. Not that the online gaming "community" is known for cowardice, or anything.

the black version looks like a place holder to me while the new one has added detail and seems to be hanging more naturally. Makes me wonder what the VS version will look like since our uniforms don't seem to have a lot of fabric in them.

maybe they could add slings to the long arms post launch. The PS1 idea of "holstering" a rifle still seems a bit goofy to me.

Thought about that the other day! When you switch weapons the holstering action should be your gun dissolving into nanites and going into the suit then your other weapon or item forming from nanites with cool special effects. This "solves" the problem  I love the sci-fi genre. Anything is possible!

That's kind of the point. They want people to be able to distinguish between medics, light assault, and engineers at a glance. Engineers will probably have more camouflaged gear on them, maybe even the earlier pic of the guy with the black and red pack is an engineer, while light assault have the jetpack and I guess that glowing thing on their helmet?

Either way the whole point is for it to be easy to tell who's what.

you mean...for emergency purpose i will be able to tell wich one of my team mates can heal me? ok i agree..but that works too for the enemy spotting him...
just saying...
Usually in BFBC2 I shoot the victim first, than the medic healing him, so he have no time to switch kits/weapon.

Man, the dev team is just firing on all cylinders with these. I am really looking forward to seeing how much we can flesh out each of the class's.

I did always enjoy being a adv. med running into the thick of a firefight to rez squadmates and random people. Or as a cloacker, adv. med. Now that was fun.

I am curious as to all the gear and knicknacks that medics will be getting. Not to mention all the bionics that hopefully we will get to hear about soon.

Go DEV team!! WOOOOOO

Warborn

No, I mean so that when you're shooting at someone you can instantly tell if they're a medic or engineer or whatever. Easy class recognition is a pretty common design element in all sorts of games, from WoW to TF2.

I would like it if they made the unarmed guys far more heavily armored, and/or minus points and kill stats for killing them. :D

I think most of the people would quit the game if that was the case, though. Raping those who are unarmed or defenseless is what PS is really all about, for most of the players.

Warborn
2012-02-23, 02:55 AM
There's really basically no chance medics will be unarmed. I don't imagine any class in the game will have no weapon. Not a lot of fun to be had if all you're ever capable of playing a certain class is healing or fixing stuff or whatever.

I would trade a weapon for five times the armor of a Heavy Assault.

When I'm in fix mode, I don't want to be going up against the HA cowards anyway. I want them to break the norm and actually fight someone who is armed at that moment, instead of lurking behind the bushes in the local playground looking for people with a medapp drawn so they can leap on them and score OMGKILLZ.

So, you're against tactical play?

Killing high priority targets first is the corner stone of every strategy...ever.

Guys you know how we want to take that position? Well don't shoot the guy healing and reviving their HA because it wouldn't be nice.

Medics running around with that much armor discourages tactical game play. You want the squad to protect the medics.

Point being it would just become a stalemate team DM if each had nigh invincible medics reviving everyone all the time without fear of being killed.

Well it's a game, not a space samurai great honour simulator. If you're running around healing/reviving people then killing you might be the best thing to do at that moment, tactically. Whether you're fighting back or not doesn't change whether you're actively a threat or not.
