Not to mention Gauss rifle is still a combustion based rifle, it's just gauss technology boosting the projectile. This was even said in it's description in the original Planetside.

Pulsed electromagnets

Magnets eh? How do THEY work? Hmm?

Nothing like a little ICP humor to lighten the mood. :p

Two rocks are married....then one rock cheats on the other.

Now they repel each other....and a magnet is born.

Railgun =/= Gauss gun, I always saw it as having coils that pulsed to accelerate the projectile in addition to normal propellants.

Yeah gauss gun is coils, rail gun is a sliding contact.

I love that BAE systems have their name in bold to show that it's a british weapon :D

but that weapon was awesome.

Sorry, best image I could find. You'd only get it if you've watched the Stargate SG-1 series extensively.

Magnetically accelerated projectiles tend to travel so fast they generate a highly visible trail behind them, so that kinda does make a flash suppressor sorta pointless anyway. I'm assuming they are removing the trail for game play balance thus the inclusion of the flash suppressors for gauss rifles.

It has a flash suppressor because it is in a videogame.

I found one!

Just to be a smartass a flash suppressor would not work on this situation as the plume is ionized gas, the friction from the round which is travelling at something insane like 4000-5000 mph has heated the air due to friction to such a huge extent that its basically stripped it of all electrons.

Problem with that theorem is that the bullets from the Gauss in PS1 were travelling, like most of the projectiles, so slowly you could catch them with a ball glove if you had one that was bulletproof.

I used to be an adventurer until I took a Phoenix missile to the face....oh wait, it didn't even scratch my helmet. :groovy:

Remember way back if you got shot in the face it would actually leave a bullet hole in your clear visor?
