How do I activate the Scout Radar?

I Have bought and put the radar in a slot. I can see it on the roof of the reaver in third person view.

Pressing X or G doesn't do anything.... what am I doing wrong?

You don't activate it, it's already working .... at least that's the way radar works on the flash and on the prowler.

It's already running. Note that the range is probably much shorter than you expect.

I can hardly see anything on it. Is it of any use of my teammates? Do i "spot" enemys and show them on the map?

Is it something that is good to put cert points into?

Yes - things that the radar picks up are broadcast to your empire's minimaps.

On ground vehicles, I find it mostly useful for performing infantry sweeps of a captured facility to make sure you got everything. At a range of 20m to 50m at max cert, that's about all you're going to get out of it.

I haven't seen the new aircraft version, so I don't know how far they scaled it back. A week ago, you could light up an entire tech plant by lazily circling the perimeter. I'm guessing that's no longer possible.
