K 2 things - I'm buying another stick of 2700 corsair 512 (Identical to my other one) anything I need to do to get max performance out of it?

Secondly, I'm gonna buy some real speakers. I'm looking at these:

http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=M&Product_Code=250128&Category_Code=NA

I have a Asus A7N8X deluxe - and I'm using the onboard sound (which rocks).

I need that pro imput again guys

im not really sure about the ram, but you can definatley get some better speakers. I would go with the 6.1 set instead, since it is only like 40-60 bucks more. My dad has that 5.1 set, and it works really nicely.

IMO 6.1 if friggen useless over 5.1. I couldn't tell ya what the best 5.1 speakers are but I have altec lansing's 641's (4.1) and they kick ass.

those ones you're looking at are pretty weak....

http://www.alteclansing.com/product_details.asp?pID=641&sID=1

thats what I have and they rock for gaming.

to get the best out of your ram turn on dual channel support (in the bios) and make sure the sticks are in the slots required for it to work. (1st and 3rd I think)

The speakers are pretty weak yeah, you want atleast 16W on the smaller ones and 15w on the sub. It's what i got and its plenty loud for me...

http://www.labtec.com/index.cfm?page=gear/details&contentid=45&countryid=1001&languageid=1

Thats the ones i use and i'm very happy whit them, but if you feel like blowing the glass out of your windows then go whit OMA's speakers. They cost bout 3 times as much as the ones you listed and the ones i have tho.

As for the RAM, you want to place them in the following configuration: DIMM 1 & 3 or DIMM 2&3. The DIMM slots on the A7N8X start whit DIMM 1 nearest the CPU, 2 the next one and DIMM 3 the last one.

You also want to match the bus and memory speeds for synchronius transfer rates... It'lldo it automaticly if you just leave it to auto in the bios.

Nav, use googlegear to order your ram. The comp I am building in 2 weeks will be using the same ram (2 chips... the A7N8X).

This link:
http://www.googlegear.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=80060
It has the *same ram*, and saves you about 10 bucks.

Every dollar counts...at least for me it does.

Sweet, nice find sho.

This mboard is so great. I'm really happy with it (and the onboard sound is awesome!)

http://www.yamahamultimedia.com/yec/products/speakers/ystms201.asp

Those are the speakers I have now, and they suck. THere is almost no sub power. Is that set significantly better, or should I spend some more loot? Will just going to 5.1 make a big difference - enough that the set you posted would rock?

* Note: Please be advised, Corsair does not recommend selling the CMX256A-2700C2/PT or CMX512-2700C2/PT into dual channel motherboards including Nforce 2 chipsets. For the highest performance and compatibility Corsair recommends using the new TWINX and LowLatence modules.

What's that mean in relation to that stick of ram I wanted?

From what i've gathered the TWINX is just 2 identical chips thats been matched together so that comp noobs are sure they get the same matched chips and the lowlatency models are just chips whit some lower internal timings.

It shouldn't have anny efect on you aslong as you're sure you have 2 identical chips for the dual band DDR.

companies will always put stuff like that up to get people who don't know a lot to spend more money... RAM os really forgiving no matter what you mix it with (as long as its the same type) all sticks will run at the slowest sticks speed...

So this:

Is the exact same as this

Can Zat or someone answer my speaker question too pls?

They're the same yeah, same name, same specs.

No one (cept you nav) here has posted a 5.1 sound system, they've all been 4.1.. Theres no noticeable difference between 4.1 and 5.1 in my experience.

Annyways, you can get the creative one you posted, but the 5 speakers are pretty weak, only 6W. I wouldn't recomend getting that.

The speakers i posted are the ones i'm using and i love them, can feel the base in the chest easily from the sub and the satelite speakers perform exelent. Plenty loud for me hehe.

Or you can go whit OMA's and get a even bigger and more powerfull set, doubt you'll ever use it to its full potentional much.

Oh and please use names, saying the set you posted is kinda confusing hehe.

K, thanks for the help.

Zat's speakers sound good, and the price is great. I'm curios about something tho. My sound has a jack for a microphone, and then 2 for audio (I'm guessing front and back?) How many plugs does that set have.

Are we sure they are the same? Zat's link has the CAS2 listed on it..the googlegear one doesn't...

well, from what I've been reading the performance gain from 2.5 to 2 is minimal.

IMO its not worth it to me (hell I just went into the bios and set the RAM timings to TURBO; which from what I can tell makes it CAS 2 ram. and I dont have any lock ups or errors)

They're the same chips...

CMX512-2700C2 thats all the info thats needed to tell if the chips are the same, and they both have that in their name.

Annyways, read the descriptions of them, same cl and ct on them, same clock speeds etc.
