These people are not Vets. Not in Smeds eyes, not in SOE’s eyes. None of them have ever said that. They are “active subscribers”. And yes, an “active subscriber” (someone who purchases PS1 & gets an active subscription) will get priority over people who haven’t played the game in years.
Get over it. You should have spent the £7.50 to reactivate your PS1 sub for 1 month. I did. I spend more than than on coffee most days... Jees people are tight!
