My girlfriend wants a gaming pc, but she wants something as cheap as possible.

Gaming. Her current laptop cant run Portal 2 without lagging.

Everything except monitor, keyboard, mouse.

I may be able to loan her my old psu. 550 Watt Antec from 2006.
6. What kind of monitor/resolution do you have or want to get to use for the computer? At first she'll be using my old monitor. 1280x1024. She may upgrade.

8. What are you looking for the motherboard to have feature wise? Like SLI, Crossfire, Firewire, USB 3.0, Sata 6.0 Gb/s, and so on.

No time frame. Not a lot of money right now. She was just curious.

Basically, she cant play Portal 2 or even The Sims 3 without lag on her laptop. She is also into TF2, Sanctum, and wants to try PS2. She wants to play some current games, even on low settings without lag.
