From what I remember the Battle Islands would be intergrated into PS2 for all players to play on. They would have much smaller player limit caps than the other major continents and they would be used as part of the continent locking mechanic. The idea was for each island to be locked to 2 factions fighting for control so that we wouldn't have the constant 3 ways. They were going to make it part of the regular game so that players had the oppurtinity to play these maps and learn them.. the catch being their faction has to be able to access them since they are locked to 2 factions.
If that is all accurate then the MLG will provide benefits to non-MLGers. Sounds like a solid win for everyone.
